Any tips for ranking in Yelp and YP.com? We've got the listings in there, starting to funnel some reviews, what other tips and tricks can we do? Backlinks to profiles?

I believe that paid traffic is king. I know that for Yelp, one of my main businesses was being constantly cold called by Yelp's marketing staff in late 2015. I kept saying I wasn't interested in their services because I was already getting enough business and couldn't handle more at the time. Yelp's marketing staff still never gave up and I finally I told them if they wanted me to sign up for paid traffic, they would need to give me $1,000 of paid traffic for free to test the quality. We went through a short negotiation process and they wound up giving my business $500 of paid traffic for free.

It turns out that their paid traffic is actually really high quality and I am making a positive net profit with them every month. I am uncertain of the quality of YP.com's traffic but I do recall them contacting me sometime in early 2014 about signing up for some of their services. I declined their offer and they just weren't as relentless as Yelp was, so they never got any of my business. I may consider trying them now because I am constantly exploring and split testing different paid traffic sources.

Backlinks and social media are the main sources to promote.
I think you have to work hard and harder for it. It is not an easy task to do.

Yelps paid advertising was worth it? No shit huh, I might give in myself. They are a horrible company and I hate the idea of giving them a single penny, but quality traffic is $$. Did they offer to clean any neg reviews if you buy advertising?
