So I decided to start a niche site on a health niche, the health niche key keywords I used appeared to me not to have much competition, the sites at the top 10 were big health sites but there articles didnt match my keywords completely only 1 word 2 tops. Its been a couple days and my site is still on page 11. Did I mess up? Should I scrap this site and start a new one?

Get some juicy backlinks for that site and you're good to go.

Are these "big health sites" RANKING for the keyword you are targeting?

If so, I wouldn't even bother with it. Sites like Livestrong, Webmd are hard as f##k to outrank. And TBO, I'm not even sure why you'd choose the weight loss niche in the first place. There are hundreds of thousands of other niches with low competition and good searches that convert great.

I agree with Mancar487.

Give it time, and try all methods, and as much options you can for SEO.

You will get success 100% Sure.

Thanks

Quality backlinks and check for over optimisation aka keyword stuffing.

You need to add more backlinks. Please be patient... :D

It's only been a couple of days? Some people wait months (or even years) to rank high for a keyword. Just be patient (give it about a couple of weeks) and you'll see results.

Its possible brother! However, unless you have a team that works with you, I'd start gathering up some powerful seo tools to do everything by the hundred thousands. High competition words is hard work but could also mean high pay ;) I look at it as low competition = quick and low profit. High competition = slow but high profit. Unless you are competing for something like free wallpapers or something.

They dont rank for the exact key word they rank for having a word of my keyword in their title, some have acronyms

You should check their backlinks profile, at least your competitor in top 10 position, see if there is any weak spot from one of your competitor and than beat it.
