I know this has been asked about ranking in google.co.uk so I know that you can change the geo location in webmaster tools however I have heard that it isn't a sure win way of indexing a website in google.com.

Are there some TLD's that will 'automatically' index in google.com? (eg. .US etc.)

    Thanks,
    Gedge

Most tld's will index, but there isn't a guarantee. If you get some unique content, and some links coming in from other sites you pop up the likelihood a ton.

Yeah but what I'm worried about is a TLD indexing in google.co.uk instead of google.com

If you do it right, it will more than likely be indexed in both.

Are you trying to get it to not index in one?

depending on which one you are targetting, you can set the geo location in webmaster tools.
