Ranking from backlinks in youtube description

How valuable are back links from very popular niche related youtube videos?
There's a youtube video ranking on the first page of my niche keyword (competition). I emailed her and asked for a link on the description box in exchange i'll embed her vid in one of my pages. She's replied with good news..



Probably just a coincidence but my ranking has just gone up 3 places after being fairly static the last few days..

From SEO perspective they do not have much value since they are rel=nofollow.
Climbing up 3 places in SERPs probably had a different cause.

Hey isn't that a reciprocal link ? Anyhow, the ranking increase do not seem to be directly related to that, rather a mere coincidence.

The backlink from it is not much of a ranking factor, but the video itself might be valuable when ranking for a low comp KW.

They don't help much, the movements you saw may be co-incidental. But report back after a couple of days whether you see further improvements.

For ranking purposes, it's not going to have a big effect on its own, but finding popular videos that you can get your link on is great for traffic.

Quite an old tactic really, but it does still work. A lot of people don't know the value of the traffic they've got, especially when they're not marketers.
