Situation:
Now I'm ranking #5 for a French product with its brand name (lets say the brand is "ZXC") on google.com
However, I found out later that this product buyers will come from google.fr not google.com so I then checked on google.fr and found that my site (in english) ranking #34 on google.fr so I hired someone to re-write the article in French and now it is finished.

Question:
I actually want to rank on first page in google.fr with my article in French but I also want to rank it with my original root domain (now in english, of course.)
Is there a way to do this? I want to have a French flag on my site so that if some French guys come in they can actually read article in french language.
Or I need to put this new french article on another post (not root domain) and try to rank again?

if it s already ranked in google.fr why to create another website? try to rank higher by placing the option to user to read the article in french on your main website. it s much better to have a diversity of languages on your main website.

You can make a /fr/ inner folder with the same content in French. Google will pick up on it and rank it appropriately in google.fr .

Create the French version and link it from the English one via hreflang.

There are a lot of customers who can't read English and I don't want to miss that.
Anyway just know about hreflang.
Thank you guys.

Make your website serve french audiences by setting it up through WMT, then push your rankings higher.

Put this french article on another post and try to rank again takes more time. But it gives good result to your site
