Hi guys,

How you would you go about to rank for "Web Hosting" and related keywords?

This will be an incredibly hard keyword to rank for. (I imagine)

I would actually not bother, I'd look at long tail keywords like:

web hosting USA
cheap web hosting
fast web hosting
amazing web hosting
the best web host

Stuff like this is much more achieveable and once you rank for a few of those the links you built will help you rank for "web hosting" further down the road.

No wonder that's too hard keyword to rank for.

But I would go and buy the website currently being no 1 for the keyword if I need fast result :D

That's a tuff keyword to rank for, better you go with long tail keywords or geo targeting keywords. Hope this might work well in bringing good number of traffic to your site. While doing seo for such competitive keywords make sure you've done clean and tidy without leaving any footprints. To get rapid ranking, try blackhat or grey hat. 301 works well in that case, but you should be careful.

Start building links for "Web Hosting" and work on the long tail at the same time. There is plenty of money to be made off the tail.

I own an ISP and I don't even bother trying to rank it. That nitch is full of resellers and startups that are always fighting for rankings. I rely on customer referrals for my business, and occasionally I get some that trickle in from the webhostingtalk forum. It's a hard business to get into now days because it is saturated and someone is always promising a better deal.

Like others said, long-tail keywords might be worth it if you want to invest the time.

Good Luck.

Hi guys,

Web hosting is one of the most difficult niches to rank in. If you have to ask how you would rank for it, you're way out of your league. I don't say that to be mean, I'm just saying it's extremely difficult to rank for, even for experts that know what they are doing.

Yeah i know its hard, thanks for the feedback guys, i was just wondering how the community would face such keyword. I'm actually thinking about the keyword for my country so it would be "easier" just wanted to know a good strategy to approach the task.
