I have some keywords I would like to rank my site(s) for.
These keywords are targetting Russian people in general.

How would I start starting to rank... does if I use USA submissions and web2.0's and backlinks from USA sites?

I have Scrapebox right now.

Need some guideance - seo noob here :yumyum:

Links from the same country are always the best but, you can definitely rank by getting links from other countries and TLD's.

I suggest you read up on BHW for general seo strategy. There are loads of great tutorials for getting started.

Are the people you targeting in usa or russia? If in russia get .ru domain and web hosting in Russia. This is how G will rank you better. If you can get links from native websites will be good but other links will work as well(depends on the competition).

What keywords are you targeting? Is it in Russian and in Cyrillic? If so - I don't think you can do much without knowing at least some Russian.

You can start by adding your site to Yandex - it's the biggest search engine in Russia and it's not digesting the standard Google oriented SEO very well. It's heavy on context links and their quantity. I can confirm what csfuck suggested - hosting in Russia will give you some benefits with Google, but it's not the case with Yandex. I haven't had any luck moving Russian keywords in either search engine buying blasts on Fiverr or whatever non-Russian service. ScrapeBox helps, but only if you do manual commenting and you do it in Russian.

you should do a social bookmarking blast, I'd recommend sbb from river on wf, should do the trick

Man if the keyword is in English like "Tours for Russians in Miami" and LOCAL searches a Big - you can do regular SEO for .com domain

But if it is in Russian "Девушки на прокат", than you need .ru domain and do SEO for yandex.ru which a bit different.

If you wont to target russians you need
1) ru domain
2) you should care more about yandex then google(most popupalt russian search engine)
3) you can buy backlinks from sape.ru

forum.searchengines.ru is sort of a Russian blackhatworld.
You can get some services and good advice there

You should note two things
1. Yandex owns about 70% of Russian seacrh traffic
2. Yandex index only huge resources from the global internet, like facebook, digg etc. It will not index regular forum or blog.

forum.searchengines.ru is sort of a Russian blackhatworld.

It's not blackhat, its white hat, you'll be banned if you post anything like "Xrumer" "Scrapebox" etc
