Ranking for keywords

Hey everyone, I launched a new site last night and did some backlinking and traffic work. I have a 4 word - keyword I am targeting with this site.

I used the SEO serp tool for the results shown below.

When I enclose my keyword phrase in quotes: "aaaa bbbb cccc dddd" I rank number 52 already and with only a couple pages fully indexed im happy with that.

When I dont use quotes, I am no where to be found.

Any tips on ranking for a keyword phrase that will work without quotes, because obviously few people search that way :| I think I am missing a key piece of SEO info here...

What you really need is more backlinks that use your keyword as the anchor text. Also if its your main keyword make sure your website title contains it.

I currently use Linxboss for my backlinks and occassionally XRumer profile links, however that is sometimes a little risky, I have always improved in rank after profile links however on one occassion I dropped 50 spots before my new improved rank appeared, made me think its a little risky.

Thats basically it. Just keep building more backlinks. Search engines are recognizing that you are a source for that information, they just need to see more authority to rank you higher.

Cool guys, thanks for the responses. I will keep at it and see if I can get the site moved up. Also I am using scrapebox for my link building.

Since the site is brand new you should give it some time before seeing any results. Ensure that you have a decent onpage SEO and build some quality backlinks at first in order to avoid being sandboxed. Do not build 10k backlinks with ScrapeBox overnight

In addition to what was already mentioned, I'd have a keyword density of at least 2% (no more than 5% or so)... so for every 100 words, you should have that keyword phrase at least 2 times! Surprising how powerful this still is for telling the search engines exactly what you want to be ranked for!

Do you recommend sticking with 2% density across the entire site, including landing page and articles specifically?
