Ranking for 'key word'.

Hey,
let`s say my keyword is 'dating sites' and the competition is just huge, but I noticed that a misspelled keyword 'dat ing sites' has a fair amount of searches. The SERPS looks pretty much the same as for 'dating sites' but not a single in the top has been optimized for that misspelled keyword.

The question is: will google see it as a totally different keyword? Thanks.

Google is auto correcting so much in the serps now that I don't know if it's worthwhile going after those keywords anymore. It's got to be getting tougher. I know the domainers are whining about their earnings dropping and domains like that are a big part of the biz for some of them.

Google's auto correct makes these kind of useless. Unless you test the keyword beforehand, and find that it's not being auto corrected.

I wouldn't go for it unless you can get a #1 position on the misspelled keyword. Any lower than that and no one will ever see it.

What a coincidence! Last night I read about misspelled keywords from Google itself. They state the same our forum mates have answered to you.

usually it auto corrects, so not really a good idea to go for such a keyword

As FLX mentioned, probably not.

Google will automatically "redirect" misspelled searches, and 99.9% of the users will never request to see the misspelled keyword.

While this may be a "goldmine" keyword, Google will bypass that with their spellcheck redirects.

I wouldn't recommend it because you want your visitor be able to spell it.

I would say you wouldn't ranked on the right word well, you well be ranked well on the misspelled word only.

Believe it or not but that misspelled keyword brings about 42k exact searches per month. Google won`t give me any 'did you mean keyword?' lines and I think I might give the keyword a shot

I just typed it into Google, and it's giving me results for the keyword "dating sites" instead of "dat ing sites"

Misspelled domain name is a better way to go rather than the keyword.

Can you get the mispelled keyword as an EMD? if the main keyword/domain gets alot of people typing the URL in directly, im sure few will mispell and end up on your site.

don't do it better search for a better non misspelled keyword it not worth to invest time and money with google instand and auto corects.

but when you go this route i would creat a post for datings sites and do on page seo for it and try to rank it with offpage seo mix up your anchor text with those two keywords.

but i have never tried to rank for a misspelled keyword
