My question to the community is the following:
Is it harder to rank with a Wordpress blog for tough keywords as opposed to a "regular" webpage ?
In other words: is having a WP page a disadvantage when doing SEO?
What are your experiences?
Thank you.

No , the CMS platform that you are going to use will not affect your SEO rankings. However some of them are better optimized for SEO , and wordpress it's one of them.

So wordpress it's a good blog platform for SEO .

Good luck

google loves WP and not all but many of the templates are good optimized for SEO, and all this if its your own blog(domain) not one from wordpress.com

yea.. lots of regionally-popular websites use WP as the back end with just heavy template front ends where the average person would never know it was a 'blog' page.

some web developers use WP just as a CMS for pages they build.
With a few plugins, it was do some neat SEO tricks

Here is all I will say on this subject...

NewYorkTimes.com is build on wordpress.

That is all :D

There is nothing better than good old html. google much rather prefers html over php thats a fact. however google may have exceptions for certain platforms like wordpress. but i have found many, many seo problems in wordpress and yes theres many plugins for seo but nothing is perfect like html for seo.

Yes, the spider visits are those which i have noticed as well. Thanks everyone for the comments. I have all in one seo pack installed however i could not add a line in my code:
<meta http-equiv="description" content=" xyz">
I tried the header, footer, etc in edit mode but don't know
where to paste it.
