All of a sudden my videos started ranking EXTREMELY well in local seo, on HIGH VOLUME keywords... Even high volume 1 worded keywords.

Local SEO is just local though, so my channel hasn't blown up yet.

BUT, is this a possible sign that my channel is preparing to rank well in regular (global) seo?

Yes if you are gaining lot of traction and engagement in local seo you will surely get god push on regular sector too.
Just keep doing what you are doing and soon you will be able to get hold of the success.

Honestly I'm not generating many views at all from local seo, but I am ranking very well... Hopefully it spreads to more local places and I keep growing.
