Ranking Drop Question

Hi there,

I have a website which was ranking #2 and then dropped after the update in May.

Now an inner page ranks on page 2 (which it always done) but why would this happen?

The homepage is still indexed but not sure where it is..it's still indexed but not showing up on my rank tracker.

I have the exact same thing happening, just wanted to start a thread but will see if anyone knows here. I am thinking of creating a very generic homepage and create more money pages as internal pages and hit them with links.
 
My traffic has dropped by 90% from 28.06, And the home page has disappeared.
 
The site only had a few hundred links with 70 -80% been naked urls...has me kind of baffled.

Wasn't the latest update content targeted?
 
It's a general phenomenon. When a site is penalized, the site drops and an inner page starts ranking somewhere in the 3rd or 4th page. Your site's penalized.

Not always, I see some cases where the home page is gone and replaced with an internal page that is still ranking on the first page (few spots down where the home page use to rank)

You site is partially penalized, what you can try in this case it to build links to the enteral page that is still ranking fine and see if ranking will improve

This is not new.

The home page was hit because that's where Google found it's fault and not the inner page.
 
I had a similar probably i ordered a few packages that are manually done well so it seemed PM me and I might be able to guide you like a friend guided me!
 
Ok so if the homepage is penalised would it still be indexed (because it is)?.

What action can I take to get the homepage ranking again?

My keyword was consistently on Rank 11 for the first 3 weeks of June then dropped to Rank 130. And then it went back to Rank 11 on the last day of June then dropped again to Rank 130. Why this sudden rise and fall in rankings? No notification of penalty on webmaster tools. Only SEO activity is Web2.0 backlinking. Anything?
 
Don't second guess.

StepByStep.

1. Add your website into WMT. Confirm any ManualPenalty.

2. If not, we can conclude the problem is GoogleAlgo.

3. Next determine if issue is ONpage or OFFpage.

4. OFFpage is usually anchor-text. ONpage is usually keyword-density or hidden-text for drastic ranking drop.
 
May be you have added the links that contain some spam look for it.
Make sure your back links from a spam free domains,and with quality content as well related to your niche.
Your page must have words that viewers searching for and use correct meta description that describes your site.Look for each page in your site and keep tracking.
 
Most probably an algo penalty.
