Ranking and indexing on Google

Hi!

The last couple of days I have been thinking about ranking websites on Google and what comes along with it and how to boost this. And I wanna share my thoughts and would like some insights.
For example I create a Discord Bot or Hosting Provider. Would the domain matter for SEO ranking?

a: ruby.gg OR rubydiscord.gg / rubydiscordbot.gg
b: bluesea.io OR blueseahosting.io / bluesea-hosting.io

I'm now mainly focusing on ranking the first page (root page), so only I find domain.tld/ important. Coming in with keywords. Does adding keywords to the meta and adding some of the keywords back into the meta help making your site higher ranked? And can you boost that?

Imagine having a landing page registered within Google Search Console along with a GAnalytics Tracker installed. Does it help to let People/Computers visit your site in certain ways, and have this fully automated? Think of the following:
- Direct visits to the URL for a LONG and SHORT stay by a human controlling a browser : Maybe in like a P2C type of style on a exchange
- Search visits to the site by a human, scrolling as long as possible through google pages till you find the site and click on it.
---- Can be by keyword
---- Can be by site name
---- Can be by domain directly in google

And the same for robots doing this.

This is all I could think of so I would be interested what other people think and experiences they have. Let me know

if you use the word "discord" in your domain name you might run into legal issues with Discord and they might take your domain down (or legally steal it from you). It could, or could not happen, but why risk it?

As a matter of fact, all of those names "ruby", "blue sea", "discord" could be trademarked, and if they are, you're gonna lose your domain if any of the companies owning those trademarks sue you.

To check if those names are trademarked use these 3 links:

Check trademark in the US: https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks-application-process/search-trademark-database
Check trademark in the UK: https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmtext
Check trademark in Germany: https://register.dpma.de/DPMAregister/marke/einsteiger

There are probably more countries where you could check if those words are trademarked in, but these 3 take trademark infringement more serious than others, so check in these first

I'm not sure that meta tags are important anymore nowadays with google rewriting our titles anyway, but it's one of those little things that you need to do to tick the SEO checkboxes, so do them if you don't have 1000s of pages... although, I'm pretty sure that there are (WP) plugins that could probably update all of your meta tags automatically and in bulk...

I'm honestly not understanding what you're asking here (care to rephrase this??), but if you ask what I think you're asking (ie: using traffic exchanges and GPT sites like Donkeymails and the alikes) then no, these are not good ways to get traffic... not targeted traffic anyway and in some cases these traffic sources could even hurt your rankings / income (Adsense for example prohibits the use of traffic exchanges)

Hi! Thanks for your response, in terms of the domain name it was more like a example if that would work but based of your response using the word your marketing for (like Discord) it might get you in to trouble. What about adding those words (if they are not brand names etc)?

And no I ain't using WP but it is a hand made HTML page just as landing and start ranking, the example I give I try to rewrite but it is hard to explain I guess. I'm not really using a real traffic exchange but more my own form of it. it was just to give a Idea of what I meant. And I do not target ad revenue here, purely google ranking on keywords and domain name / brand name

First Scenario
Does direct URL visits help rank up your website within google? This could be short visits taking like 1-3seconds or visits that are 10+ seconds scrolling through the page. This direct visits could be humans but also bots that are launched from a script on a server or home pc.

Second Scenario
In this case we use google and actually google one of the following things: Exact Domain, Brandname or keyword (that is place in meta tags). It could also be a combination of things. And click the site when present in a page. When clicked we do the same as scenario one by staying long or short in the site. And does it affect if this is done by humans or bots.

if it's your own brand then yes, you can use your own brand name in your own domain cause you're not going to sue yourself over using your own brand. But otherwise, if it's a brand that you don't own and is very relevant to the topic / niche / industry of your business don't use it!

Like, for example, say you have a business of growing apples and your domain name is johnsapplegrowingbiz.com then yes, you can use this domain without problems because Apple (the american tech company) won't sue you because your domain is in the business of growing apples while the american company is in the business of producing tech. So, in this case you're safe... unless, of course, there is another business called "John's Apple Growing" that is trademarked, and in this case the owner of the company called "John's Apple Growing" can sue you because you're both operating identical businesses but his biz is trademarked

Directs hits - from real people - used to give a slight boost in the SERPs few years ago, but I'm not sure if it works anymore, so I don't know

so, like Microworkers. I've got no personal experience with microworkers but some folks say that it works if done correctly.

In what concerns me, I've had a similar situation about 1.5 years ago for one of my sites and it did work. I purchased a gig off Fiverr for like $20 for real traffic for 1 month and, about 1 week into the campaign I noticed that some of my (easy) keywords went from nowhere to pages 5-6, while 1 keyword went from page 3 to page 2 if I remember correctly. But after the campaign had run out after 1 month the keywords have gone back into obscurity.

So I assume it's a similar thing with Microworkers: as soon as you stop sending those direct hits your rankings might decrease. And it might not work in all niches anyway, my site had been in the crafts & hobbies niche and this niche had been easier to rank for me...

I'd assume that if google can't detect your bots they might boost your rankings by a little bit, but like I said, when you stop sending hits your boost might stop too. So it's not a viable strategy in the long run.
