Hi BHW people,
We have an Ecom site that we are looking to switch onto a new domain with all of the original content. We need the new site to rank for a low competition branded keyword. Will it be an issue to rank for this low comp kw given that our site has very little original content (all of the images and most of the text are the same as the original site which is already indexed in Google). We will be buying links to the new site to hopefully increase the page rank and allow it to rank even though the content is duplicate.

Would appreciate any insights or advice here.

if your older website is not penalized, you can add a 301 to the new domain and everything should work fine,
if it's penalized, better use different content, while it might work it's still risking getting you penalized, especially for brand new website

As advised by @hideath, you can do a 301 redirect if you want to move your existing site to a new site. If you are about to maintain it as a separate site, try to use unique content and images on the new website.

Better to add a 301 redirect as @hideath suggested. Google hates spam content.

You can point can tags to the new pages on the new domain, but your better option is to do 301 redirect.
