Hey guys!
I am quite confused at how the youtube rankings work.
I uploaded a 1 minute video for my niche, along with 146k views (they are NOT mobile) and 600 likes. It is on page two. Whilst another video with 46k views and 200 likes/100 dislikes is ranked #1 page one, however has 7 pages of comments.

My question:
How does the second video obtain that ranking with such little amount of views and likes? Is it the comments which are affecting the rankings?
P.S How do I further rank my video on blogging sites? I heard that youtube videos get ranked better if you post on niche-related sites with your video.

Viewer Retention, views, likes, dislikes, favorites, seo optimization, account age, video age, competitor statistics, backlinks all factor in ranking a video first. Most of the time it is a good solid video retention that gives youtube rankings a boost.

The length of the views plays a big role too as it shows whether the video is high quality or not.

Length, comments, likes all are considered in ranking videos

Well, it's not the number of views that count but its retention. Let's say you have 2 exact same video, video A and video B. You could buy 120K normal views that would watch i don't know let's say 15% of the video length on video A. Now you have the video B on which you bought 40K High Retention views, with these views let's say that the average of them lasted 95% of the video length. Video B will have ranked better than the video A, with less views on the counter. It's not the quantity but the quality here. Then comments/likes/keywords/optimization comes in the game but we were talking only about the views here.
