Ranking a site which is not in the top 100

Hi,

I have a problem. I have a potential client with a website which is already ranking in the top 50 for a keyword for which he didnt do any seo. I would like to do seo for this keyword as I think that Google
has naturally deemed this website for that keyword as being worth ranking.

The problem is the client doesnt want this keyword.

Now my question:

The other keywords which are alternatives and also relevant to that website are much more difficult as the website is not ranking in the top 100 ( and probably not in the top 200 either). These are not big keywords, just local keywords.
How difficult would it be to bring that site to the top 5 better top 3?

Did you ever have similar cases like this one?

Check your on-site SEO, I can bet that is the reason why you are not even ranking in top 100, especially since the keyword is easy like you say. Bring the keyword back to top 50 at least by fixing your on-page issues and then start a few backlinking campaigns to bring it to top 3 or top 5.

Yes, it will be. On-page SEO is so overlooked by everyone and yet it is so important. It can make the difference between being #1 and #10 in the first page as well as make the difference between ranking in the top 50 or not ranking at all without any backlinks.

Check on page plus start building PBN links targeting those exact anchors.

Yes, pbn links is the other thing i also wanted to use. There is a lot of talk however to just use niche relevant expired domains because domains which were in another niche before should not work as well as they worked before.

Any experience concerning this view?

They work just as well, it's just yet another thing invented by sellers to sell "premium" domains at higher rates. It doesn't matter in what niche the domain was before - what it matters is the strength of its backlink profile and the relevancy of the new site that you will build on that domain compared with the money site that you are linking out to.

Do On-page SEO and build more number of quality back links that are related to your site.
Write a quality content and use keyword that having low competition to rank higher in google.

First concentrate on ON page SEO and then start building quality links on your niche with quality / informative article that will help you to boost your desired rankings on search engine.

I just did it for a page on my site, I wasn't even ranked for this keyword - I was using a different keyword that no one searched in google for like "30 searches per month" then I switched it to one that had 27000 searches a month and considered difficult by keyword tools. Re-branded the name of the page, H1 H2 H3. I went back to all my old posts all over the place and edited them with the new anchor tags, changed all the links in my network of sites to the new keyword.

I appeared at 91, then went down to 42 then back up to 78, then looked two days later and was at 13/14 for it, I was like . Still not good enough, but who knows only been 2 weeks making changes for it. Maybe I'll be in the top 10 in a couple of days. I think I can get between 5 and 7, I doubt I'll get higher because I don't have an exact match domain. The odd thing is, I did buy an exact match domain with a .org and I'm on page 2 of bing for it, with zero seo and non existent on google. I was going to SEO the exact match for a feeder, but I might not have to.

Niche relevant links will do the trick here. Also focus on optimizing your website, both on page and off page. This will be effective for your keywords to rank higher.

For local rank in top 50 all you USUALLY need is good on-site SEO, nice optimized content targeting the keyword(s), having your business' physical address on the website (so Google knows its local to that area), registering your business with Google for maps etc, dropping in a few nice Google reviews, and a handful of high authority links.

Buy PBN service which provide some articles that relate with the keyword that you want to rank. From this, you can rank the keyword as well as your link of the page. This is one of the way.

Also do ON-page SEO and write the quality articles with your own risk with more contents that what the Google prefer.
