Ranking a musician

Hey BHW,

One of my App clients is interested in SEO after I mentioned to her how it works. I did some searches for a few random "goth music" keywords. Most of them had low-med competition with monthly searches from 30k all the way to 4M.

What procedures should we go about ranking her site for some of those random keywords. I'm a mobile expert not an SEO expert so I'm not sure what exactly the possibilities are. Since I don't know enough its hard for me to give her any price quotes and she will want one when I deliver the app soon.

Anyone have advice or think they can help me out?

Possibilities "are" you to learn SEO. No one will give you step by step what to do.

Learn SEO, rank that keywords and that's it.

Just find the keywords that have the least competition and good search volume then start from there.

Get niche relevant backlinks and just learn on the job, no spamming though!

I would suggest outsourcing it to a reputable source. Worry about managing your business and not learning how to run another. A jack of all trades is a master at none.

I think you can easily get $1000 per month from such clients, i used to get such clients when my site was ranked in google for SEO related terms, and if you can explain them process and how it is going to benefit them, then you can easily get $1-3k per month from them.

You should be more worried about ranking her on a platform than her own site. The site is just a landing page to direct people to iTunes or some other sales funnel....

You need to set up her Reverbnation/SoundCloud/YouTube page correctly and then blast those out with social media signals so they rank in the top 3 when people search for her genre

Those low to medium competition you see aren't for SE but adword.

I'm sure if you take a deeper look at most of the sites on the top 5,
they will be authority domains.

Notwithstanding, with quality knowledge of SEO coupled with adequate resources
and time, it is achievable.

Unfortunately, all this can not be discussed in one thread or a day.

This is exactly how I feel. I just need someone on my team with SEO as a strength. I want to focus on what I'm doing. I need to find some legit outsources to add to my team.

I don't want to learn on the job with this. I WANT it done properly and professionally because that's how my business should operate.

Great advice. I will mention this to her as an addon. What about the random terms like "goth" say I wanted her to rank on G+ for that specific keyword. So that random people can just check her music out. She has her music based social media handled. Probably not ranked properly but it is set. I'm just thinking for more ways to expand to a MASSIVE audience. That is why I was looking at those random keywords. Is it even possible? Would it work?

GREAT information. This is an expert speaking, since I just learned something. This is also the reason that I need a SEO expert on my team. This is stuff I just don't know about...
