If you're going to leverage the authority from Google as the author describes, it might be worth considering targeting something highly competitive. Potentially a Pokemon Go guide or something. That'd be highly shareable.

Taking a look at the backlinks in Ahrefs, the oldest link goes back to Jan 2016.

I've seen similar results with Google My Maps, but I think they shut that loop hole down.

People game Google Doc's all the time. In the right situation it can be a smart move. Just depends on the audience, content, and niche... and how you intend to convert that into money.
