is there any difference to the ranking if you use a free wordpress or blogger blog, i have search for a few words and sometimes see these free sites right there at the top.

i also tried a experiment, registered a free wordpress blog and stuffed it with my keywords and threw some articles on it, its now on page 2 with a competition of 350,000.
for backlinks i just put the link in my sig on a few forums which i use and according to backlinkchecker it has some 2000 backlinks.

so does it matter to google is you use a free wordpress instead of buying a proper url

I think it would rank it better because, wordpress is a well known site and google knows that. Also I think when it said 2000 backlinks it was talking about wordpress not the wordpress subdirectory you created.

An exact match URL TLD will work better for more competitive keywords and has better staying power. Also, in my experience it's better to control the hosting that your site is on if you are in this for the long haul.

Blogger and Wordpress are great for low or medium keyword phrases because with the right link plan you can get them to the top five in less than 5 days. I was able to get one to #2 in 24 hours for a profitable keyword using a simple link building plan.

Also, if you jump on trend marketing you can get web2.0 blogs to the top fast and without any hosting or registration costs, which is good for a keyword that may only produce income for a few days/weeks.

btw- You can use blogger and wordpress for testing. If you can get them ranked high, then spend the money to get a good keyword rich TLD and then pass the link juice and page rank (if you have any) to your TLD when the time is right.

No - your backlink strategy should be the same no matter how you set up your domain.
