Ranking EMD with low competition is a piece of cake but how about one with high competition? Anyone have extensive experience ranking EMD's with high competition? Is it that much more difficult?

have good on page seo and build links from different sources and different anchors (it helps to build links with no anchors at all)

Get a couple of high pr profile backlink packs from secondeye (member here - services section) Domain needs a bit of age and pr behind it. Keyword first in title, first in h1 on homepage. Good quality content.

Pretty standard procedure

@OP: This is basically asking how to do seo... EMD or not it's a complex process. Focus on building high PR links and vary link types and anchor text.

You say High Competition...this is over broad. The only competitors in the race are the ones on the first page. Who are your competitors? Research the on page, power of their backlinks i.e. Dmoz & Yahoo. Are they authority sites? Are they EMDs also?

General tips: Keep your content very relevant, only rank 3 keywords for the first page, the EMD will get you most of the way there. Keep fresh content.

Develop a back linking plan to out rank the weakest one on the first page. Build from their one position at a time.

High competition or low you do the same for all sites. Just takes less effort for low comp sites.

Exactly. When people ask questions like this, it makes me wonder if the person knows absolutely anything about SEO. See these posts every day, "How do you rank this...", etc etc. It's all the same! Build links using the keyword you want to rank! Doesn't matter if it's EMD, home page, inner page, low competition, hihg competition, anything.
