I know that many people discuss about importance of domain age as a factor in ranking on Google.

So, I have question about it, but not question like everyone discuss as a domain 2 year old vs. domain 5 year old. I want to hear many answers for you guys about this situation.

I'm talking about situation 1 month old domain vs. 2 year old domain. In this situation 2 year old domain is ranked #1 on Google for some keyword. Is it possible that domain that is 1 month old outrank that 2 year old domain?

If not, what is the minimum period needed for brand new domain to before "trusted" in Google's eyes? At least 2 months? 6 months?

Any answer is appreciated.

So, it can be done without any problem?

I have a situation that I pump a website with lots of social signals and high PR high quality backlinks. I am currently ranked around position 20, and it is possible to reach #1 if I continue building high quality high PR backlinks? No matter if domain is around 1 month old?

Yes ofcourse, the fact that your domain is so young will make it rank even better than an aged domain. But be careful with your link building because an aged domain can handle more backlinks than a young one.

Alright, I am building backlinks carefully and drip feeded so no risk of getting penalized.

So, answer is simple, I should build high PR backlinks continuously until I reach #1, right?

right with proper anchor diversification.

in my experience, a domain that is less than 4 months old will not rank. As soon as you reach the 4 month mark, suddenly things start to rank.

It is possible, it's all about the SEO, and the older your domain, the better.

It's not about age anymore but the quality of trust flow (quality links) linking to the domain that matters.

If you own a brand new domain, work on getting high pr links with relevance to your niche and link to your site.

Actually with some of the crap that ranks in Pharma long tails with new sites I'm not even sure that high PR matters as long as the links are niche relevant from the homepage. Recently, I saw a guy ranking about 10 new sites and they were all linked from some shitty PR 0 and PR 1 pharmacy sites that he had put up and rammed with tens of links in the homepage. Ranked all over controlled long tails and elsewhere for a good long while.

I ranked domain once in two weeks only but my link source was very strong that time .

Generally true, but two years is nothing. It really won't fasctor in, unless both sites suck.
It is if its got links from huffington post, cnn, inc.com and nytimes oh and many more lol
And if it is in the same niche as you wanted to build your site in.
I'm just happy with my new purchase lol
I shall pipe down now

Yes it is very much possible that you can outrank a 5 year old domain with a new domain. Get high PR backlinks related to your niche, and make them look legit. Don't go on making 10 backlinks in a day, just go slowly in the beginning, after some time you can increase the number of backlinks you create per day. :)

Domain age isn't quite the ranking factor that it (possibly) used to be. I don't even pay attention to it anymore.

The easiest way to do it, is see the latest trend & target it, and you'll probably rank faster and better because it's fresh snow.

As others stated that ages are not more important than quality backlinks in theses days. I see the domain with 6+ years can be outranked by the domain having only 3 years. Am not saying that aged domains are not worthy, they have certain values in this case.
