Hello,

A site is ranked on first page for 4 keywords.

KW 1 - 17500 (worldwide searches) - 6th position
KW 2 - 3000 (worldwide searches) - 8th position
KW 3 - 1500 (worldwide searches) - 4th position
KW 4 - 300 (worldwide searches) - 3rd position

But according to G analytics, the site is not getting more than 10 sessions (visits) per day.

How and why is that? I think the site should be getting decent traffic considering it is on first page for total 22,300 worldwide searches per month but it gets average of 10 visitors per day.

What do you guys think could be the explanation for this?

Have you cleared your cache and deleted your history before googling those keywords or are you seeing those positions on some kind of a tool?

Forget about global searches, look at USA searches (If that is your target country) and check your regional rankings.

Checked with two different browsers. With my local IP, with US vpn. Checked on serpbook, checked on serpfox. All of this show the same ranking result that I mentioned in my OP. But Analytics show an average of 10 sessions per day.

Not sure what you are saying there. I'm not talking about targeting anything in this post. Just trying to figure out why a site on first page for 22000 global searches is only getting 10 global visitors per day.

Might be something wrong with google analytics... try another tracker, for example slimstats (if you're using WP).

Let me clear, on average first three positions recieves 60% of traffic and remaining spots shares 40% traffic only. And your title may not be catchy and curiostic.

If you are at 8th , 9th Position It is less Traffic. and If that Keyword is some Season base Search Keyword than It is too. If It is Local Search than Search Trend might change. there are many things involved to get Target Keywords Rank which can get Target sales or traffic.

Your keywords should target local searches (US, UK, etc.). Next, see what your server side stats show on traffic to compare to GA. If you are using cPanel then I check a program like AWStats, etc. Not the best but it will give you an indication of how many uniques you are getting and from which countries, bots, etc.

Have you still got high levels of page impressions and just no click throughs?

You need to be in the top 3 to benefit from most serps OR have something different in the title that the top half do not have, and that would catch the attention of someone who has checked the top 3 results but has become frustrated with them.

You aren`t ranking the same in other countries (seems like you checked only google.com). Also catchy title and descriptions are necessary. If you aren`t in top3 don`t expect miracles.

Cheers

It depends what countries you're ranking in and where the bulk of the search traffic originates from.

It won't do you much good ranking in Google.com if the bulk of searches for these terms are geographically focused within Australia for example. It might be regional terms heavily dominated by a few select areas, you didn't do your KW research properly is my guess....

Are they in Google 1st Page:
KW 1 - 17500 (worldwide searches) - 6th position
KW 2 - 3000 (worldwide searches) - 8th position
KW 3 - 1500 (worldwide searches) - 4th position
KW 4 - 300 (worldwide searches) - 3rd position

Or they are in Google 2/3/4/5 Page..... ?

If they are in 1st page then there is some thing wrong. But if they are in 2nd/3/4/5... Page then its ok.

Make sure, you are on which page.

I don't know why some people here are talking about US searches only. It doesn't matter what US searches are, I am just talking about the site being ranked on first pages and not getting any traffic. The site is on first page of Google.com and most of the traffic is coming from US according to analytics. And the keywords are not seasonal or geographical. They are generic keyword which everyone in this niche search for no matter where they live. So far the only explanation that makes a little sense to me is as someone said 4th position and onwards get little traffic as compared to first 3. Second could be that the site is not ranking in other countries but that's not the case. I checked local Google of 10 popular countries like Germany, UK, Australia, India etc. and all of them are showing the same results and this site is on first page of them as well.

Part of the problem is that the traffic is in the top 3 spots.

This is representative of chitka traffic, but the percentages are fairly consistent with other calculations, perhaps even a little low.

Added to that is your website has to covert the traffic into a click. Just because you show up on the search page does not mean that someone will click on your result.

Your description has to convert the viewer to clicks.

Using the traffic graph from Techxan:

Total impressions per month = 19600

Average position = 5 ~ 6.5% of traffic

Average monthly visitors potentially should equal 1274, which equals 42 visitors per day.

And you say you get about 10 visitors per day?

Most people will click the first result, have you considered that that may be the perfect web page for their query, and they have no reason to scroll down to the other results?

Setup your website with google webmaster tools. Check the impressions, clicks, CTR and average positions for your website for the keywords you mention. Possible reasons for low traffic -

1. Average Position is less than 10 but too few impressions = the keyword volume information you have is incorrect
2. Average Position is less than 10 but CTR is very low = your title and description may not be optimized for clicks
3. Average Position is greater than 10 = there is some issue with the ranking tools

100% sure the site is on first page of Google.com and local Google of 10 other countries I checked.

Yes, the first result is the official site in the niche. All others are private sites like mine.

That should explain the extremely low click through rate. If you search for "facebook" on google, what are the chances that you will scroll down and click on the github page that shows up at the bottom?
