Hey guys, One site of mine have alot of ranked pages. They all seem to rank well, but this particular one that drives me the most traffic is out.

I've been ranked #1 for few months now and recently I made a minor change on the site. I removed a video and changed one outbound link in the post.

Since I made that change my rankings are gone. Just wondering, could this change so drasticaly affect my rankings or this could be something else? bad backlink strategy? All my other pages still rank very good with same backlink strategy. Need your advice.

Removing one video and changing one outbound link is not enough to cause such a dramatic negative change in rankings. It's probably due to something else you aren't aware of. I suggest you analyse your site deeply to find out why that particular page stopped ranking. It could be due to a penalty; bear that in mind.

To me it does sound like a penalty, as a single video taken off wouldn't cause such a problem. You have to check if there is any problems with your page like others in this topic have stated.

You need a link juice. Many backlink share facebook, will improve your SERP position. That I did in 2010. It may not work this time.

Thank you guys for the answers. I appreciate that.

I checked my WMT and there is no messages. I returned everything like it was before. I will listen your advice - post more content and add few more backlinks + social signals.

Will get back to you guys with more info. Once again thanks.

this drop will not be stable, it will come back to original ranking soon and build some backlinks too

One thing i learned about seo. When ranking well do not take anything away on page that you started with. Add stuff to make it better but do not take away stuff as that is what the search engine used to rank you in the 1st place.

Make sense. Obviously google didn't like my changes.

May I ask you what video and outbound link you had? They did matter as I see. Are they connected with your niche and lead to a more trusted domain?
