Also, what are Amazon bots and what exactly are they doing?

I think Amazon blackhat is difficult these days. Amazon caught on to the older methods (keyword injecting, fake reviews, etc...) You can always buy reviews, but that can be expensive (cost of products + cost of review) and not really a long term strategy. I'd love to hear some ideas from others though. I'm currently being outranked by a few chinese knockoffs on Amazon for a product that I created and would love to get back on top of the first page.

Blackhat strategies are definitely much more difficult than they used to be. They have sniffed out a lot of the bot work and it is no longer effective. If you want any chance you at least have to have manual intervention at points of the system. At least for what I am seeing.
