What is really happening when page ranking fluctuates? I finally got my niche site up for 3 weeks and it got up to 72 for my keyword but not its 500+ again.
  1. Does this mean Big G is slapping my site?
  2. How does one determine if a site is being punished for black hat seo?
  3. If one determines that google caught you, does one surrender that site in terms of seo?

Thanks

My new site is also fluctuating just give it some time( 2/3 days). In the meanwhile build some backlinks do this steady.

Your site is built 3 weeks ago OP. Ignore all fluctuations in the first 3 months.

The important thing you NEED to do is to continue building solid links and not monitor the rankings so much if it is fresh.

What you are experiencing is the dance. You rankings will fluctuate and this is how they catch most SEOs. The minute you stop building links during this period they will know what your site is up to.

So chill and focus your efforts on building them links. You should start to see them stabilising in time.

To keep a ranking stability. Regularly add backlinks toward your site. Think quality over quantity.

What you are experiencing is Google dance. Your site is very new. Don't focus on rankings. Just keep building quality links.

Fluctuation in ranking will depends upon the three factors,

1. Age of the domain.
2. Competition in your niche.
3. On Page & Off page factors.

It's because your website is still new that's why your rankings haven't become steady yet. With time, your rankings will stop fluctuating.

yep, keep building links regularly and don't worry about daily fluctuations. The worst you can do is panic now

My site has been going through the same thing

the only difference was I recently bought some new twitter followers and thought the problem was them, so I freaked out and deleted the account

Waste of money all because I was impatient :)
