Been working hard on links building over the last week or so, but noticed that my rankings have dropped.

Not just one URL but many - when I say rank I meant position - changed nothing other than building links.
Seems to effected other URLS that were not part of my link campain

Same here. Went from 4th page to 1st then currently in 5th. What to do....

Something similar happened to me. I used several services here for building links and noticed that the number of links I have to my website went from around 350 to 80!
Is this normal like the so called "Google dance?"

Yes - me too.
Recognise links dropped by about 40%. Site went from page 1 into oblivion.
However, I do think we should ask ourselves how "sticky" links were ie could they also have been deleted by other webmasters / blog owners?
I think I may have got a bit carried away with scrape box

yes yes yes... I have read about Google dance, but my eyes pooped out when I saw 200 back links disappeared in last 24h

Can you give some more detail information about "Google Dance" ?

If you have build backlinks you should not worrie its just dancing around so relax and keep building backlinks

The key is consistency...
- Keep building links.
- And don't freak out and start changing any on page stuff.
As long as you keep doing that you'll come back stronger then ever!
Oh, and publish a press release or get some .gov/.edu backlinks just for good measure... links from highly trustable authority sites can really help during this "google dance".

If you're happy where you are - keep doing what you were doing.
Spammy links don't last too long - you need to constantly be link building if you have a platform of spammy links. It's a vicious circle.

Over a month ago using the $1 trial of traffic geyser I blew out about 5 keywords or so to vid sites with url to site that was already ranking for a several of it's keys on page 1 of g.
Just after that I did maybe less than 30 profile links to same site, even some to a squido that was ranking on g and showing as a backlink, and the site's gone off radar for at least 2 maybe 3 weeks.
The site did rank for primary keyword which is used exactly in the domain name for a low comp keyphrase that hands down should rank almost entirely on it's own but it's gone.
Will keep you posted. Maybe I'll throw some links at it again see what happens but think I'll wait a bit longer. Not a major site but one I dont mind testing on.

Google Dance very similar to a slingshot..The more links built the further it will pull you back. Recently built so many links I went straight to number one...But had a bit of movement just before. It will take a few days or even a week but you sould be better spot when you hit the SERPS
