Hi guys,

I have a website with around 20.000 images put in different posts with 15 - 20 images each post.
I have around 1000 visitors a day now but i think that won't last forever with only images i think.

Should it be wise to increase rankings by adding a 100 word article to every posts with title and meta description for more visitors and better ranking ?

how old is your site? I think you are doing it right with the images but adding some articles can help to improve or mantain your rankings. Indeed, you have plenty of content. How are you monetizing?

Just write catchy titles , no need to write meta description. If it images site it will survive.

On this moment i am only using adsense.

I have a competitor who is outranking me on some queries with just pure images and alt tags. The serp for his content looks like this;

http:hisdomain.com/thephototitle/thephototitle-1/

The Photo Title (1), The Photo Title (2), The Photo Title (3)

There are absolutely no text included in the posts and even the wp images attachments are being indexed. Worth mentioning is he has a great domain name.

Back in early 2014 up to October, this site was nowhere to be found but with the latest algo update (which I honestly think was 2012 algo/results) of G, it jumped to the top of the pages. I wonder how it will do on the next update...

Remember to put alt image tags for the search engines to pick up on. Remember SE cannot see images so we have to help them determine by everything around it.

You also should put a sentence or two next to the image to explain more for the search engines. SE cannot read images, only source code! You must think how Google works to understand this.

Hi vanderploeg,

Yes adding 100-150 words of content, will work best in your case, However just adding meta and alt tag is not enough, in order to tell other's what your image is all about you can add CAPTION to all of your images which lower your site bounce rate :)
