if you ranked #1 on that keyword even for 1 hour your server would go down due to the load -- yesterday!

I'd rather put that kind of effort into something that was properly monetisable!
I personally think that in reality it would be nigh on impossible. The quantity and weight of the links you'd need would be gargantuan, and since it's their brand name, it would make it even harder. Not to mention that their programmers probably have a complete code block on that happening in their algo.

Google has hard coded a ton of brand names so that only the brand name's site can show up in 1st position. They've been public about this for years. Their position is that when a searcher searches for "apple" they expect that apple.com should be in 1st place and they make sure it is. You can't overcome this.

Some weeks ago, one site was ranking for "facebook" in Google India. There was a thread about it on BHW. Just search for it.
I think it's possible, if you can get more links than Google has. But that's whole another story, u can't get that much links lol.
