I was just thinking... is it possible that Google makes rankings harder for those who have sites from multiple industries associated with the same GSC and gmail?

I mean, think about it: google's mantra is all about fending off spammers and rewarding legitimate businesses, and legitimate businesses only have 1 website usually, they don't have 10+ sites across various industries (like most SEO seem to be having) associated with their GSC / gmail.

This fact - as simple, yet as overlooked as it seems to be - could, thus, make it hard (in the sense of sandboxing your site(s), for example) for your sites to rank vs if you only had 1 niche / industry / business per GSC and gmail account.

Am I wrong in this assumption, or did I just have an "ah-ha" moment?

What is y'all's opinion on this?

No, companies often hire agencies, especially small companies and agencies will have all their clients in their google search console. It's normal behaviour, not related to spam. Does google flag that? Idk, but it'd be really silly for them if they did since all these small businesses are under agency/freelancers' gsc. Still it's possible that google flags that but that wouldn't be in their own best interest.

but making more money is ALWAYS in google's interest, so I don't find this theory implausible

so what? They don't know that google's intentionally sandboxing most of their sites, and google have no interest in making this sneaky trick public either as this will push everyone into getting 1 GSC for each website, which will increase the spam even more (more gmails, therefore more GSC accounts, therefore more resources wasted by google in monitoring and dealing with the billions of accounts), which is precisely what google's allegedly fighting against...

I dont think so, Google doesnt care if a console has different industries profile in it.

There's lots of meta ads and google ads bans on these small business ad accounts, even if they do stuff by themselves (so separate google accounts) so it's not impossible for google (and especially meta/facebook, actually they're way worse with this than google) to go around with these bans, can't be 100% sure. But that behaviour (having many different industries under one account) isn't really that suspicious in itself. So no, probably no.

Yeah, we can't know really, unless from experience... Who the hell knows how their algorithm works? With paid ads it's actually common for agencies to mass loose accounts. They'd have their clients' ad accounts under one google or facebook account and if couple clients get bans then this can spread to the rest of the clients. But that's because some of these ad accounts had suspicious activity, not because there's multiple industries under one account. So I'd assume the same for organic / seo? If you have suspicious sites there and one or more gets kicked out of the serps it might spread to other sites in the same gsc? But having many different sites isn't suspicious in itself. Just a theory...

Interesting idea! Probably if you have a bunch of different sites under one Google account, it can mess with your SEO a bit. Google likes to see a legit business that usually has one site, not a bunch of random ones. Lots of people suggest making a separate account and email for each big project to avoid extra questions from Google. But the main thing is to make good sites with useful content.

That can be a good starting point for them to filter out sites for penalty. But I cannot say with certainty.

For serious projects, it's always safer to keep your operations and associated profiles well separated. Never put all your eggs in one basket, especially with big G. It limits potential footprints and helps avoid any unintended collateral damage if one site gets flagged.
