Have any of yall ever tried to do so before?

A friend & I have an idea for a cool startup but, need atleast 10k to develop it.

I was looking at Diaspora (anti-Facebook social network). Supposedly they raised 200k. Do you think they did anything "Black Hat" to create such a buzz & raise so much funding? Just seems like an enormous amount to be of natural means.

I know you can't give out too many details (due to the nature of this forum) but, is there any tips you have for listing a project on there?

I have promoted dozens of kickstarters for people. Highest amount raised (that I've been involved in) has been $33k

    Some tips:

    1. Make the video interesting as hell.
    2. BUY FB LIKES or get those likes in there in any way that you can. You need at least 700. That is how kickstarter determines who gets top billing in any category
    3. Updates. Update daily if you can.

I'm interested in this too. I've backed a number of projects on there. A good sales page (just like a landing page) is key. Physical products seem to do very well on kickstarter - but have a prototype you can show in your video.

This is somewhat true. I've seen many products that need prototyping and are still just in the Idea phase. It really is about networking and acquiring the views needed. Oh and a lotta hope!

Definitely listen to this! I've noticed this to be insanely true.

Take your time an structure your item after the successful kickstarted programs. Make it visually appealing. Make sure the perks for donating are nice. I don't feel like writing a long page, but pretty much make it so even you would want to donate to it as a third party.

Well that's easy enough. So I'm guessing the way Kickstarter works is, you create a FB page for your product & based on the likes of your FB page, it rises in the rankings? Right?

This definitly works, I know a few people who have been successful, however they didn't used any BH... at least I'm not aware of.

The tips provided by GiftGuru are the key to success.... but most importantly, you need a great product that people are interested in to invest!

Are you going to make a BST service for helping people use kickstarter to make money?

No....I am talking about the ACTUAL kickstarter page. Right underneath the video on your kickstarter project is the FB LIKE button. You need to attack that thing...

That is the biggest factor kickstarter uses to determine if a project is popular

Most definitely...the projects that get 6 figure backing are the ones that people connect with....they view it and say "Shut up and take my money!!!"

Never considered it....I had a gig up on MyCheapJobs and was charging people $50 to do a social media blast on their kickstarter project...that included 700+ likes to their kickstarter project page.

Did you guys see that iPhone watch idea that got funded on Kickstarter for $1mil in 28 hours? You gotta have a pretty creative idea that will help people in every day tasks to get good funding. A great professional video and good "prizes" to big donors is a way to get decent funding.

I just checked that out and saw they raised the following:

    10,942 Backers

    $1,490,238 pledged of $100,000 goal

    36 days to go

I will leave these numbers here so anyone interested in using Kickstart can compare the date this was posted to when the funding stops.

This just shows that with a great idea you can get 15 times what you needed to initially fund your project. This isn't a guarantee if your idea is presented and interpreted as innovative as these guys presented you will have remaining cash flow.

In the case of the Pebble I am amazed that they can get away with 1.4m+ after funding it.

Do the people get to keep the money that bypasses their goal or does it go to Kickstarter?

If they get to keep the 1.4m+, or whatever number their funding escalates to they are a perfect example of dreams turning into a success without the need for greedy corporations to take a percentage and tell you how to create things.

If they promote this correctly this could turn into something very mainstream.

Just to add this in I edited this page 3 times throughout spending 5 minutes writing this and the number increased to $1,499,748

Woah, refreshed after writing this line and it went up to $1,500,103 and again to $1,500,343...

As you can see I wrote 10 words and they get another $200.00+ in funding. I can't go on for the next 36 days so if anyone wants to they can do it themselves I have to go to sleep.

To anyone that thinks they have a good idea, go on Kickstarter and publish something and who knows you might get 15+ times what you thought like these guys or it could turn into something you have to rethink to bring more people's attention to make your dream a reality.

Saying they get 200.00+ every 10 seconds it's now $1,501,438 as of the last refresh they might end up with over 2.5 million if the hype ever calms, if it doesn't well i'm sure you can figure it out.

Either way you will see them on TV in June, so you might as well be an early bird and write a trending article.

Good night and $1,503,928 is the price after writing the word "saying" to the end of this post and pressing "Submit Reply".

PS: I had to throw this in, they are making an app store so maybe it is something any software developers could look into a year from now.

This is starting to make me think that money is fake, but I have to understand it is real.

The funding bumped to $1,507,542 from whatever number is at the top of this post in like 10 minutes!

Now the money goes up 100+ before I can even copy and paste it I am getting tired now.

    Have a good night.

    Shadexpwn.

The guy with the Pebble Epaper watch is making so much bank, he is probably only getting them for $50 to $75 from a Chinese manufacturer.

    Edit:

He already had most of the watch design made and a somewhat similair OS for his last smartphone watch. This is the perfect way to monetize kickstarter.
