Rainfall shower head advice?

So I have this in my shower:



So the one that I have was in the apartment when I bought it. It's plastic in the middle, and the other day when I turned on the water the plastic just cracked from one side to the other in a line. It blew up, startled me.

The problem is the little holes get clogged up by limestone or plaque or whatever, and then water can't come out of all of the holes, so the pressure goes to the middle plastic part which eventually broke so that water can come through.

Cleaning the limestone isn't really a problem, as simply running my fingers over these little holes makes the limestone that's stuck in each come out, like little pieces of sand or whatever. But the problem is that it gets clogged really really fast. I mean, I can't be cleaning this thing every week. I guess I could, but I don't wanna. I could soak it in vinegar once per week. But I don't wanna spend my time doing that weekly. I don't exactly piss vinegar either

I think it gets clogged up so fast because it retains water. So water stays inside of the shower head even after I'm done using it. I noticed if I turn the shower head sideways even hours after I used it, water will start dripping. So what, I should always leave it sideways when I'm done using it so that the water from inside gets drained?

Is that how these work? You have to clean it weekly? Or you have to turn it sideways when you finish using it so that it the water that's stuck inside is drained? What's the routine on these rainfall shower heads? Perhaps the one I have is shit quality and that's why this is happening. I've only ever had a regular shower head, and those can go for a very very long time without issues.

Anyway, not sure if I should ask for a replacement on the shower head that I have because they'll just give me another the same one, and then I'm right back where I started. Maybe I can't get a replacement anyway, because they can say I broke it because I didn't clean it.

As you can see, I am lost. Any rainfall shower head experts on the forum? Please give me some advice. Thanks

#1 I wouldn't use that to begin with
With having long hair in the past. that showerhead is as annoying as it gets to use.

Yeah I was using it more in the beginning, now I use it less. It gets a little annoying, true.

But I wanna have it and be able to use it. And without worrying it's gonna fucking blow up on me when I turn it on because it's clogged up. Like, I don't even wanna have that thought in my head.

Life is complicated enough without having to worry about shit like this.

Maybe I buy one that has no plastic parts. That way if it gets clogged up water just won't come through, but nothing (plastic) will crack/explode on me.

The water must be hard there like in many places, you can get a water softener installed, which removes the calcium and magnesium from the water. This is a somewhat costly solution, but too hard water can damage all the machines, which run on water. Or there are water softeners for the showerhead specifically.

Use a bucket instead. Go old school, save water. And you'll also save on installing new shower heads every couple of years.

Get a water softener installed where? Like the water heater? I live in an apartment, where would one install such a thing to cover all the water in the apartment. And then when you're done destroying things and spending a bunch of money to get this implemented, you have to change a costly filter like 7 times per day. Give me a break.

What is a water softener for a showerhead? Okay I googled it, I see. But again we're back to having to spend time and money and to remember to change your filter all the fucking time.

I think getting a showerhead with no plastic parts is the best solution. It will work when it works. And when it gets clogged up you'll know it and it won't crack/break/explode on you. And then you can soak it in vinegar and clean it make it good as new, or burn it

I would say
go buy a better shower head
It not expensive and you save yourself headaches.

Well better, what's better? I think I'll just get one with no plastic parts. That way nothing can (easily) break, and even if it gets clogged all that will happen is water won't be coming out (or be coming out with as much pressure). And then I'll know what time it is, clean it, and have fun jerking off

But plastic breaks and then needs to be replaced and it's a problem.

1. Unscrew the shower head from the tube.
2. Put it in a basket with hot water and Citric Acid (no, you can not smoke that).
3. Let it stay there over night.
4. Take the shower head out and clean it with fresh water.
5. Remount it to the tube.
6. Done

Needs to be done before it cracks and explodes

That's nice. Where is your shower I want to test? Just leave the keys under the mat in front of the door. And leave the fridge full. Don't come back for a few days. In fact don't come back until I call you. Go stay in a hotel or something or in a cardboard box under a bridge somewhere whatever I don't care

my fridge is full of emptyness so make sure it gets filled with real food and drinks

Mine works just fine, but I have a really good filter system set up in my house and that's why I even do not have to clean this thing

I live in an apartment. Not sure how I would set a filter system for the entire apartment. Like, I'm not sure how that works, and I don't really have space to spare.

You should consider your water source. There maybe some impurities in your water and when you use this shower, they get stuck in its hole. My shower at my home have a filter. When I want to clean it, I just replace with the other filter. This filter help me eliminate strange pieces.
