Radio Advertising?

Someone else posted something about advertising on billboards and if its worth it. Im wondering if you think advertising on the radio is worth it. I know someone who works at a local radio with a decent coverage and I can advertise there for $50 per week with something like 4 add plays per day for the entire week each slot is like 30 seconds as well maybe a minute I cant remember exactly.

The free ipad affiliate program ive seen is $1.30 per registration im sure theres better ones.

I would need about 30-40 registrations to cover costs.

Do you think I could make my money back from this? and do you think its worth the risk?

Another thing im curious about is what other affiliate programs do you think would be suitable? zip submits? freebie submits? survey submits?

Im open to anything that could atleast break even and I dont mind being a guinea pig so if you have an idea let me know.

I asked about adult dating advertisements as I could run an adult friend finder campaign or another company campaign but I doubt they will let me do this.

I don't think it's worth it advertising one dollar CPA offers. Go for pay per sale programs and advertise hot items, ones there is a lot of discussions around lately or seasonal stuff.
An example would be a lawn mower for the upcoming summer.

I know this may sound like common sense but I think I would look at the demographic of the listeners to guage what interests they have to then drive related stuff to them. Never tried it myself. If you do go ahead keep us posted with your results.

There isnt really a demographic as such because its a local radio and tracking listeners etc costs a fortune.

They do however have a general all around demographic as it plays the latest music, local music, local news and whatnot.

I have never done radio advertising. However, I have a client that dropped a couple of grand on radio. Zero results. After the campaign was finished he was talking with someone that said radio works for brand recognition. Like car dealers, etc.

That makes sense. You hear the brand jingle and recall it when you need it.

If you do go through with it, maybe promote a national brand. Use a text shortcode campaign to capture leads and get them to your affiliate page. Maybe build a list that way?

What about setting up a text message VIP number for discounts to the hottest clubs? You could set up a web address too like hotclubsstatename.com or vipliststatename. After you get a list of a few hundred people you call up some local clubs and tell them about your list and offer them a blast for X dollars. You could try the same thing with restaurants.

It's worth a shot IMO. Radio's would have decent conversions I would think as the audience is engaged with everything they've got to say.

which radio station are you talking about ?

If you can just try it for $50, what risk are you even talking about... Unless you have to make a longer contract, try it.

I would only do radio for getting a local business more visibility.
CPA? Not unless you use radio to build your list like mentioned in the thread above. Or big ticket leads... maybe.

To do radio you're going to have to record a commercial and ideally have a VERY short domain name or a vanity 800 number that is memorable to listeners.

Your best bet for radio is to have an actual relationship with a brand that can provide you with commission for phone calls as well as clicks.

Again; if you are in the US, these stats are tracked in quite some detail.

This will probably be a no-no.

If you are serious about this, there is another play that several advertisers use to good effect. You will however need to lay out a reasonable chunk of change to get the station to go for it.
