R.I.P Private Blog Networks

I think the point he is making is that if a blog network is open to the public, it cannot be private. My network is private, as nobody has access to it, no posts are sold.

I thought the reason why a private blog network was called a private blog network was do to the fact that the actual blogs are owned by an individual or a company and the blogs themselves are.. well... Private

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/private

Private: belonging to some particular person: private property.

I own 5 private networks... some with partners and some my own.

The whole panic thing about PNs being bad these days is so over blown it makes linsanity look small.

Do it right and your PN will do what it is designed to do.

Diversity is the name of the game as to backlinking and random chaos as to that diversity makes it even stronger.

That will ALWAYS be the deal.

I think we need to make a new term for it:

Public network: network where anybody can add his blog and let people post in it. In exchange, he can post in other people's blogs.

Semi-Private Network: you buy the membership fee, you can post article in there.

Private Network: only a single or a few people who know each other have access to it.

You are correct. All im saying is google hates paid links so it would be natural for them to start targeting people who are offering these services as this is the easiest way to do damage control. Im not sure how big or well known your blog networks is or if you are even offering them as a service or strictly as your own. If they are strictly your own then yes, PN are fine. If you are offering this to other people well then I think your days are numbered since there are numerous people on various forums who are complaining about certain networks loosing PR and being deindexed.

I would also argue that ALN is not dying and posting on there correctly will still work wonders. People got lazy and google slapped you, and now everyones mad that for this second you cant be lazy. There will be other methods that come up, and then 3.4 will come and it will happen again. This always happens when there is an update, and whether it was just this update or that it came sooner than normal ( I think it came like 3 days early, google trys to update monthly ) and everyone freaked out or what but shit happens and we gotta move on.

Super well known and there will never be an issue.

I'm not a chuckle head and nor are my partners... we know what to do to make sure there are no issues.

IMO, the PN owner just need to take a rest a while and stat adding new content without link or just link to general link like wikipedia, or goverment link (non-provit site). Therefore, G will acknowledge him again and boom, PN is alive again.

Maybe the main reason is the link on PN post is for profit site, and G does know it. mix the post. Don't just put buyer article, put news, and science, and make G trust PN again.

Real people who know their SEO will know that this is completely untrue. BTB, one of the most reputable members here says exactly the same. To all newbies out there, please do not believe this regurgitated nonsense the OP has posted. He does not know what he's talking about.
As far as I can see, OP is just talking nonsense based on anecdotal evidence and he obviously has limited experience in this field.

The only way to truly know this is if you work for them. People do not know how often blog owners add new sites to their network or loose sites from their nework. They will never tell you this because they don't want people freaking out. Google is not going to target every network with one shot, everything is gradual with them.

All im saying is you cannot expect 6 months from now these networks to carry the same weight (if any) as they are doing now.

Like what was being said earlier in this thread, diversification is key. I think google penalizes sites where backlinks are their one day and gone the next in large amounts because I don't think these network let you control how many blogs your article is going to be posted to and god forbid that the entire network got raped by big G, I don't think it would be looking very well for you sites but if PN are the last thing in your link building food chain then I don't think you should see that big of a drop.

At least with scrapbox comments and other link building techniques, the source of the backlinks are coming from various places. With PN its like a "Trap House" and for those who don't know what that is, its a place were alot of drugs are sold and made. Once police "Big G" rushes the trap house, the circulation of drugs drops dramatically in that area.

To each his own and im guessing the numerous people who open threads saying the same things on various forums just imaged it:rolleyes:

I have 25 sites using blog networks and for the past 3 years and others using a combination of blog network and other link building techniques.

My advice to the noobs is do further research on your own and you will see who knows what they are talking about and who is full of BS.;)

Use networks that do not know what to do to stay under the radar and you'll have a reason to open those threads.

Post images of Bieber to make your point and I disregard your point.

I do not espouse only my "opinion" I talk to a lot of guys aside from my network partners on a daily basis about SEO and we know how to keep things clean... I suggest you turn the lights out in the room where you are working because you are living in the dark anyway.

Save a few dollars on your electric bill.

Blognetworks are not dead OP ,

As everybody said , link diversion and Ip diversion gives best results

Along with contextual Links

So read out some case studies to get more knowledge

If you read the bottom of the orginal post, thats what I meant by "Dont put all your eggs in one backlinking basket and your site will live to see the top once again.".

Who said Private Blog Networks are dead ?

Just pushed a medium competitive site stuck on #3 for few months to #1 in a week after buying PBN posts.

Before buying the posts,I tried everything with the blog viz. web 2.0s,link wheel, link pyramid, article submission etc.

So,PBN was one of the missing link.

This just proves link diversity is a must.

Don't have pizzas everyday.

right guys.
reading this thread I now where ive went wrong...no diversity.
Im slapped.
want to get unslapped...

So Suggestions please....

GWT says i got around Total links 3,584pointing to my site.

of that there are 475 domains (that the backlinks are on)

so if this new algo update is based on

number-of-backlinks/number-of-domains = % link diversity
then mines would be 7.54

(sorry my maths/percentages not so good but you get my meaning right?)

so obviously my ratio/percentage (call it what you like) is in the ban hammer range (7.54)

question: can anyone check their stats and tell me what they reckon is a safe ratio?
I mean is it nearer the 1-2 range for example?

if so does this mean all we gotta do to get out this penalty is build loads more half decent diverse links ....lowering the ratio of domain-backlink average then re-submit the request for re-consideration?

then the little google bot.....(any1 seen the matrix...centinels spring to mind lol!)..will visit my site again work out that the ratio is low and not subject to the new panda 3.3 filter and report back to HQ that the penalty should be lifted?

any ideas guys?

i'm gona try this but just wanting some input from you guys?

It doesn't work that way. You should have backlinks from varied domains but link diversity is something different. Link diversity refers to kind of backlinking you are doing to your site. Your site should have all type of backlinks, like web 2.0's, article links, high pr links, social bookmarks, blog comments, profile links, etc. Mix it up and you'll be safe.
