I'm not sure how many people here on this site are familiar with the phenomenal professor and human being that was the late Dr. Pausch, but I just found out that he died earlier today. He was responsible for the "last lecture" video that went viral last year after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Here is a link to the video. I recommend it to everyone on this forum as it discusses a few topics that we all can appreciate. I was lucky enough to take a few courses from Dr. Pausch during my undergraduate career and can attest to his brilliance and ability to captivate and educate a room full of people.

May he rest in peace, a good man whose legacy will continue to touch people even after his death.

'...I had heard the name but didn't know much about him.

Sad news, especially for you having met him, as you obviously had a lot of respect for him.

What a tragic waste.

Thanks for the video link.

My thoughts go out to his family.

That is very sad.. Pancreatic cancer is a horrible way to go.

oh man, I'd hate to see anyone go this way, even my worse enemy. R.I.P.

He seemed to be doing so well... I would look at his site every few weeks and he kept saying he was in remission. Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers known with 5 year mortality >97%. Those were pretty long odds. :(

Without being in any way sentimental: a quality individual with an exceptional infectuous curiousity and inspiring message. I would also go as far to say this is definitely one type of guy the US should be very proud of producing. Unlike some other more dubiously celebrated and self-proclaimed 'achievers'.

I appreciate you are bringing this to our attention here, thank you. Can you post this in on a more public facing page so that the sentiment and his memory can be seen by all. This sort of sentiment seems at odds with being kept on an underground forum. Or is it just me?

Cool for you that you saw him in person.

I'm literally choked up. I saw his videos last year right after my own health crisis. He is one of the main reasons I'm here on this forum. I decided to stop wasting my life and find a way to live what little of it I may have in a way that brings me joy, excitement and peace. It may sound a bit strange but thinking like a blackhat has brought me all of the above.

Thanks Doc.

Thanks for the video olden, I hope Dr. Randy Pausch will find his relatives in heaven.

I too was inspired by following his story.

How many of us would face death with as much courage and simultaneously live life to it's fullest as he did?

Rest in peace Doc.

What a courageous, precious soul he was/is. My prayers to his family.

Very inspirational guy. Last time i saw his video he was diagnosed (and predicted to die) around April since he has (i think) stage 4 cancer already when he did the video. Truly inspirational. Great video guys. If you're feeling down or if you just want to appreciate your life more, watch the video.

It's well worth your time.

RIP Dr. Pausch
