Quora experiences and questions?

I have a question and I'm curious to your opinions

I have been using quora as a test for a variety of things.

For promoting affiliate links. Links to my own site and links to my own games/ apps.

I am getting a lot of views on most of my answers even some answers were posted 4-6 months ago. For example a question what is the best mobile game? Has 57 answers and I'm the top answer. In the past week it gotten 4K views.

And I have multiple answers with loads of views and upvotes (bought btw to push my answers to the top).

Despite getting traffic and clicks I don't make any sales, since I'm learning and testing new things out I am curious how people make money with quora or tips how I can change this so that I get amazon/ affiliate sales.

Or is quora just not the right platform?

Some platforms just don't convert. But it's more complex that that, some niches on some platforms don't convert, but others do.

I started referring tens of thousands of clicks from Twitter to several of the companies I am affiliate for. None converted. I then started getting lots of WTF type emails from affiliate managers at these companies. They weren't annoyed, they just wanted to know why the traffic wasn't converting. I should have cheekily said 'it's your website I'm referring them to, you tell me why they're not converting'.

Same issues. Getting views but no conversion from quora..

Quora works best when you are trying to generate leads and sales for B2B or B2C businesses.

If you are going to promote directly a CPA offer with your links, results will not be that good.

Have a look at few top influencers on Quora e.g Jason Lemkin (he drove most of his traffic and built a blog with most of his Quora traffic).

quora has very high authority in the eyes of search engines, so it can easily provide traffic as it ranks well in google, just based on the authority alone; then depending how good your answers are, and how much traffic the questions get, you will get traffic; but most of such quora traffic has no commercial intent. so yes you can make money there I suppose as was said above, but I dont think it is a piece of cake.

quora can be used to build authority and backlinks. never tested for affiliates.

It could easily be that your niche + quora just doesn't convert. Could be your site converts poorly as well, who knows. Give it a little time, but if you aren't seeing money you'll have to move on from it eventually.
