Hi guys! I know I will regret it! But today I decided to quit gaming and get a real life!
I've been playing Dota1/Dota2 for 2.5 years now, and I keep playing it around 14 hours a day without breaks >.< I've always been addicted to video games since I was a kid, I quit one game, and go to another -_-.
I've tried quitting Dota a lot of times, but eventually I get back to it because I really miss it and I'm a pro gamer lol.
5 minutes ago I deleted Dota completely from my PC+Steam.. But I really got not idea what will happen next, how will I pass my time :(
I feel like a 10 years old talking, but good thing that nobody from real life knows me here ^_^

It would be awesome if you guys can suggest me what I can do to pass the time. I have 2 religious friends, so meeting girls is not an option... unless I go to parties alone, which sucks. (and I don't have the balls and I'm socially awkward :D) ><

Thanks! And also suggest me what to do to stop thinking about Dota (the game)!!!

When I'm in college, I keep thinking about the game, and I look at the clock and say "Oh yes! 50 more minutes and I'm going home to pwn some noobs! HECK YEAH!"

    -Fadi the poor nerd.

I didn't know some people still play Dota. Well, I am addicted to Flyff til all my friends left. Now I only log in for like 10 mins a day or so just to say hi to guildies.

The thing is, going cold turkey is gonna be hard unless you gave all your stuff away and delete your characters and accounts.

Start working on a company first so you can mingle and socialize with normal people. After some time, you wont miss playing too much, that's how i end my dota addiction.

As for me, I was addicted to a lot of MMORPGs before. What I did was I totally PM'd the people I got close with in the game and simply gave them all the items and money I have then uninstalled the game on my comp.

It was a really hard decision but because I made that decision, I now have much time to spend on my hobbies, my family and my work.

Make a forum using social machine, get some really cheap hosting (ignore what people here will try tell you)

Then find all the "higher ups" in your game, and try get them over on it. Once you guys start chatting try get them in on the action and start recruiting more people.

Turn your forum into a meeting ground, and a place to chat. It's not a big game so it will be easy to rank for. Give yourself 90mins a day playing, and the rest should be for promoting.

That way your building on something you love and ending up making money by selling your own ebook on the game. Don't go the adsense route, instead sell / make your own products. Let guys pay to arrange games etc.

Also go to the gym, get fit, make some new friends, and read the book "the game" and go nail some pussy. You can rep me when you get laid ;)

Just hearing about "Work" outside my house, my heart starting beating, lol :D
I'm still level 1 in real life, and this quest sounds too hard for me! I'ma see what I can do though.
(Ops, I did it again >.<)

There is one thing on my mind that keeps me a little bit motivated. I think about Real life as an online game... Talking to people will increase my chrisma and experience, working out will increase my strength, meeting new friends is like making a clan/guild lol :)

When I grew up I used to play a lot of computer games as well. I did what others suggested and gave away all my items, deleted my accounts and uninstalled the game just to start all over again a few weeks later. It took me several years to get off completly.

In a retrospective I can say it was well worth it. Today I wish I never got into onlinegaming in the first place. I don't know how many ours I spent in front of my PC but I'm sure if I invested that time into IM I would make a lot of money nowadays.

    Quick tipps:
    - See your time as an investment. You won't get anything back from gaming.
    - Try to replace your old gaming habit with something new and exiting. Read some books about topics of your interest, go to the gym (there's an interesting article why gamers are good at the gym, google it), learn something new, go outside, anything.
    - It won't be easy, you'll fall back a few times. Try to see it as a process rather than an event.

The thing is your brain is addicted to challenges,to create,to do something if the only way you know of challenging yourself is gaming,it is very easily to get addicted to it.

You need to try new things, think about what you want to be on life, all the goals that you can achieve. Without dreams, goals you cant generate enough energy to face your problems.

Try to get a invitation to theplace.bz is a torrent community that has good materials about procrastination, addictions, finding a goal etc. (send me your email that i send to you the invitation)

Thumbs up on that. To OP, why quit? Just do less of it. Focus more babes, exercise, fun and hang out with friends. Start a company and be busy to keep your mind off it. Buy a guitar and learn it, without guitar I'd be NOTHING!

Dota 2 was online game ?

If yes then SELL YOUR ACCOUNTS !

And if you cant leave then think of this.
Is gaming really that important in your life, in that time you could do something productive, and it wont make you money later when you need to support yourself !

I have an addictive personality, which is why I don't let myself play games. I simply am not into them like I used to be though.
I'm competitive and a perfectionist, which leads to me wanting to keep playing.
Think of how much time you waste playing these games.
You have to ask yourself how bad do you want to be successful.
