Hey if you go to my site thatkush.com you'll see on the right side it says "Howdy. Welcome to ThatKush.com" etc. how do I remove that or change it?

I can't find the place that will allow me to change that part of the site.

Second, if you go to weallscheme.com you'll see that he has the RSS email feed setup. How do you do that? How do you setup an rss feed via emails, etc?

Lastly, How do you put up advertisements (adsense, banners, etc.)?

Answer 1: you need to edit the template. Its probably in your sidebar.php where you need to change the code.

Answer 2: That is a mailing list. There is no such thing as a rss email feed.

Answer 3: You need to edit your theme.

    Hi bobbylove321

There is a welcome.php in the pixeled theme that you are using.

Open that in notepad or in the theme editor inside the wordpress dashboard.

    Go to thatkush.com/wp-login.php>>login>>dashboard>>themeeditor>>select welcome.php

    Find the following code

<h2>Howdy. Welcome to $mysitename!</h2><p>Thanks for dropping by! Feel free to join the discussion by leaving comments, and stay updated by subscribing to the <a href='$mysitefeed'>RSS feed</a>. See ya around!</p>

Change the portion between > < and you got what you wanted.

    Now how about a Thank?:)

    You will need 2 things.
    1.A feedburner account.
    2. FeedBurner FeedSmith plugin

    For that go to feedburner.com
Google owns it now. So login with your gmail account. You will have to burn a feed. Just type in your original feed.
Dont search around for your site it is (replace ** with tt)
    h**p://thatkush.com/feed/

paste it and make a name for your burned feed which will be like
    h**p://feeds2.feedburner.com/YourFeedName

Now download the feedburner feedsmith plugin. Unzip it.
Upload it to wp-content>> plugin folder

Go to your dashboard from your login page and in plugin section activate it.

Then put your burned feed h**p://feeds2.feedburner.com/YourFeedName

This plugin will redirect all your original yoursite.com/feed to feeds2.feedburner etc. You got the point.

In the feedburner you will find a section where you can provide your posts as feed to your readers via email. Just click and go through the whole process.

I think you will do fine .
Well again how about the thanks button eh?

Come on trapmuzik, there is . It is called feedburner with feedsmith plugin.
Of course it is far less useful than a mailing list, but it is there.:D

    Lazyfrog,

    I don't understand this part:

"In the feedburner you will find a section where you can provide your posts as feed to your readers via email. Just click and go through the whole process."

I activated the feedburner feedsmith plugin and put my feed that I made at feedburner in the first slot, and for the second slot it says:

"Optional: If you also want to handle your WordPress comments feed using FeedBurner, create a FeedBurner comments feed and then enter its address below:"

What exactly do I put in that second slot?

Also, what does this process exactly do? So if someone goes to my site thatkush.com and clicks on "rss feed" they are taken to http://feeds2.feedburner.com/Thatkush which is a white page with some stuff on it. Does that mean that the people who go to my rss feed can choose to "opt in" to my news and posts?

If so, then does that mean everytime I put up a new post that they'll be notified? (So if I put up 4 posts daily, then they get 4 notifications daily? Doesn't that get annoying and spammy?)

Also, does anyone think the All In One SEO plugin is really not that good? I don't really know what to put in the fields of the plugin, and everytime I make a post at the very bottom the seo plugin asks for title, description, etc. and I don't know what to put there because I already put a title, description, tags, etc. in the normal post.

Well the second spot is for Comments.
For example a visitor in your blog comments on a particular post. Then another visitor gives another comment to that comment. So it becomes a type of discussion. Then one visitor wants to know about the discussion on that post. For that he will need to subscribe to the comments' feed.
Which in your case is in the second option.

But the thing which might be troubling you is "How you are going to put that in the template?" I mean How your visitor can subscribe to it?

So for that matter you go to the site you referred in your first post.

    weallscheme.com

This blog uses revolution church theme. On the top right corner you can find the rss icon to comment.
Now if you hover it you will find hxxp://w3.weallscheme.com/feed/comment/

So you should choose a template that shows comment feed icon or manually create it into pages. This is actually not essential.

But if you want to do this, then go to feedburner account. There burn your comment feed. Then in your feedsmith wordpress dashboard just type that burned URL.
Right now your theme does not support it. So do not sweat it. As it is stated it is totally optional. 99% of chances are there that you will not need it.

This process of rss makes you posts avaulable to people within 30 minutes of your writing. So if you write 4 posts a day then they might receive it 4 times a day. You can check it by subscribing to different feeds.

Use opera browser. It has a in built rss manager. So you can see how the post looks like to audience.
It is never spammy. The subscriber subscribed to it. And believe me people will not mind if write rationally and of substance.

If you want to market your posts. Getting people to opt-in via aweber or getresponse then your strategy should be different.

But for rss this is more than enough. But if there are still some doubts I will be glad to help you. just pm me.
    Thanks

If you have optimized the title for your key word then do not think much about it. but it helps when you write key word optimized title.

Then the excerpt or description you provide in the box will be seen in the search engine below your title. It is kind of meta description.

But when you are starting out do not get into these. Just post and post. Comment on relevant sites. Thats it . Just go on. And as I said if you need me just give a pm.
