Quick Tier2 related question

Hello all,

been following the forum on and off for a long time, but this would be my first post :)

trying to improve the ranking for one of my keywords on my money site by building 3 tiers to my site.

Tier1:high quality Web 2.0, large articles good quality content, manually built
Tier2: good quality Web 2.0 , quality of the articles is not as high as for Tier1, but still pretty good, non spun articles, all manually created (both articles and Web 2.0 properties)
Tier3: mainly GSA

I have currently build 10 Tier1 sites, and somewhere between 2 -4 Tier2 sites per individual Tier1.
the competitive level of the keyword is medium. The moneysite has an established domain about 5 years old with good content, good PR and overall decent rankings.

My question is since I am building both tier1 and tier2 manually, can I get away with having only 2-4 tier2 sites per Tier1, or do I need to increase?
I know more is usually better, but also time consuming.

I think you will be fine but it could be more difficult that way depending on your niche. With out knowing the niche I would suggest reverse engineering your competition to see what they are doing.
 
I've been having great success with using PBNs to rank the sites. I do use the web 2.0 strategy you mentioned, but have not tried ranking a site ONLY based on web 2.0s.

If you have the time and money do try building your own PBN along with your web 2.0 properties. It will be very much worth your time.

Thanks for the quick response. They are not doing anything special. Will test drive it for a few weeks and add more tier2's if I do not see any movement.

Thanks to you as well for the quick response. PBN is already planned, although for some more competitive keywords, hope I do not need it for this set, but if I can't get enough juice I will add them to the PBN in planning.
 
Tier1: aged web 2.0 properties at least one year, blog posts on high PR blogs, private blog network. All articles are copyscape 100%. Manual 100%.
Tier2: Use a bot such as GSA SER. Spun articles with uniqueness at least 70%. Social bookmarks, wikis, article directories, web 2.0 properties and blog posts.
Tier3: Not needed. However, you want to build the tier #3, it is okay.
 
you are doing fine on the web 2.0 side
think about more link diversity

Use FSCnetwork or RankWyz as tier2 with article builder

This idea looks okay. But, wait for few days and let see if you got any SERP improvements. If not, then definitely you have to add more links.

since posting rank moved from position 11 to 6. will wait a few more days to see if any further changes occur. If not I will increase the amount of Tier2's and see if it will push to the top.

If this doesn't seem to be sufficient, I will add PBN. Will post updates.
 
update, I did not make it all the way to the top yet, with just Web 2.0 sites. I added some guest posts and some links from BHW, still only made it to position 4. Seems to be stuck there for now. Going to add some PBN links to it to try to push it to 1st rank.

I can't say that this is a fair test to discredit the Web 2.0's since I noticed that some of them are taking a really long time to index and I suspect that at least one of the competitors for this keyword is using PBN's.

Will report back in a few weeks once the new PBN links have set in.
 
Tier 1 do-follow and contextual web 2.0
Tier 2 do-follow and contextual wikis and article directories
Secondary links to each of the tiers do-follow

I prefer contextual links as tier one, web 2.0 properties ad forum discussions as tier 2 and forum profiles, social bookmarking, directory submission , etc as tier 3 backlinks. For Tier one link building I also prefer using Public blog networks, these networks are quite useful in terms of improving SERP movements :)

Also, I believe that the social references can acts as backlink validators, so it is like the domain gets shared on FB, Twitter and Google plus and variety of other social platforms to show more natural viral behaviour along with organic backlinks which are being built.

Update: FYI, I was not able to obtain the desired ranking with this strategy. I changed my approach and I am now on position 2 for this keyword and expect Nr.1 within the next few days or weeks.

For a different site that is less competitive I was able to obtain great results with the above technique. In that case I mad sure that the tier1 had been really top notch. 2K word articles with lot's of graphics and GSA for several months.
This site ranks well now, even after all the latest Google algo updates.

Conclusion: Tiered Web 2.0 still works if done right if the niche isn't overly competitive and you have time to be patient.
