It really depends on the keyword. If this is for a term that won't ever lead to buying traffic, you'll get an incredibly low CPC and CTR on adsense. If it's related to your niche, yes it is probably a good one if you can monetize it.

The low competition is not seo competition its adwords competition use seo tools like MS or TT to check the seo competition..

Also make sure the Searches are Exact searches and not Broad Searches

I'd look at the first five spots in the search engines before deciding whether or not I want to target that keywords. The 'low competition', for SEO, doesn't mean anything at all! :)

Looks like a broad keyword rather than an exact one :/.

If it is exact, it would be profitable traffic speaking, now you need to weight the competition on your own to evaluate the ratio comp / traffic which is leading to the potential earnings in a X amount of time.

Yes, this is a good strategy. I look for low/moderate competition keywords, and check the first page of Google to see if there are any .com, .net or .org sites ranking on them. If not, should be pretty easy to get the #1 spot.

It depends. If you are trying to earn from adsense, and if the keyword is a medium paying then its definitely a good keyword. But if you are for affiliate marketing then ranking your Keyword is mandatory and in this case your keyword might not be the perfect one. :)
