quick question

I'm about to start building my 1st site and need a little help. I've never built a site before. My question is about hosting. Right now I want to focus on my one site and run a couple subdomains on it but in the coming weeks I plan on making another. Do I need to pay for separate hosting for each is my question. If not could anyone point me to any good hosting companies I kno of godaddy but are their any other affordable that come with good quality

Great questions, to be honest I used to use Hostgator as they had a plan where I could upload as many domains as I want to a single hosting account, however I have now been converted to the hosting of a supplier on here.

Also, regarding the sub domains, before you do anything like that make sure you pick the brains of the guys and gals here - they are scary clever and sub domains may not be the best way to structure things.

That depends on your hosting plan. Some hosting companies allow 2 - 5 domains per package. It's always listed on their features page.

I would reckon you to stay the heck away for SlowDaddy.

Most service providers state how many addon domains and subdomains you're allowed to have. Hostwinds allows unlimited subdomains for like $5 a month if I remember correctly.

Don't choose godaddy. Also, most registrars don't offer good hosting services, and avoid having hosting and domain registration with the same provider.

There are lots of hosts that provide "unlimited" plans, in terms of both the numbers of addon domains you can have, and the speed you will get. However, there is no such thing as "unlimited" when you buy a cheap shared hosting plan, its just a way for them to sell more plans.

If you go for cheaper shared hosting plans, I would go for a hosting company that clearly sets out exactly how much you have at your disposal. It is better to know that you can add 3 domains and get 10GB disk space and 100GB of monthly traffic for example, since you can more accurately judge whether this fits your needs, and at least you will get it. A lot of unlimited share hosting is just super slow, because they have too many domains on each server. And if there really was such a thing as unlimited, most people would just need 1 cheap shared hosting plan for all their sites.
