Have you noticed that where a guest post sits on a page now matters more than the site’s overall metrics?

I’ve seen mid-tier sites perform better when links are placed naturally within core content instead of author bios or “sponsored” sections.

Is anyone else testing placement > authority lately, or seeing the opposite?

From recent tests, in-content relevance and editorial flow seem to influence impact more than raw site metrics alone. When a link genuinely supports the paragraph’s intent, it tends to perform better than links placed in bios or clearly separated sections.

Authority still acts as a limiter. Good placement can amplify a link, but it doesn’t fully compensate for weak topical relevance.

Curious to hear:
Are you noticing diminishing returns from high-authority sites when placement is forced or non-contextual?

opposite for me in some niches, high authority sites still move needles but only when the link sits above the fold and blends naturally with content.

I’ve noticed the same in 2026 link placement inside core content matters more than just the site’s authority. mid tier sites with links naturally embedded in helpful, relevant content often outperform higher authority sites when links are stuck in author bios or sponsored sections. authority still helps, but contextual placement and relevance are becoming the bigger ranking signal.
