Quick question about proxies

If I obtain the proxy/ip and input it into let's say ff, It will only be detected for FF browser correct?

Meaning if my ip was something like 125.11.33.555 that I purchased/obtained, and I wanted to use SB, FF, IE, Chrome all at the same time, I would need to insert them into each of those that allow it then as well correct?

Correct, you put the proxy you wish to use into the actual program that you want to use it, then tell it which one to use.

VPN, if they don't have the software/bot, I'd basically have to either install it onto their server or find a provider that does I'm assuming?

So I've tried using different ip's and manually changing it in ff, checked to see if it works, shows that I'm using a different ip yet it still shows another ip which is my real ip. What is the point if they can still see 2 ip's one being regular and another you're actual true ip?

Maybe these are transparent proxies, you have to find better ones.
