I am finally diving in to some guest post outreach.

I have read many guides on the perfect email template to send and they all say the same thing:

'List a few article ideas fo them to choose from'

My noobish question is this.

If I send out multiple emails with these topics, what do I do if two sites choose the same article topic?

Do I write two versions? Do I let them know someone else has taken that topic?

Thanks in advance guys

Here's what I will do:
  • I will write one article as the title suggest (for the website which backlink I value more - let's say you do not want to upset its webmaster, so you'll do the title that you promised).
  • I will create a different version, with different title, etc, but similar in meaning and in topic for the second website - and I willl email the webmaster saying that "I thought about the topic and I think adding a twist to it will help your website visitors in understanding xxx(the topic)" - your focus should on showing him the benefit of getting the alternative angle for the story.

But why are you following ready-made templates? You can go with something like - I have identified a topic that I feel is the best fit for your audience. If owner replies, you are already having topics, right? Shoot them thereafter.

Don't overthink it, especially if you pay for GPs. Most will accept anything.

I used to think this a few months ago when I started.....

For best results DON'T send the same generic email to every site owner.

There's more work involved, but you'll also get a higher return.

To be honest, guest post pitches do not require a high level of personalization IMO, you will mostly talk about your background and pitch your ideas for the guest post. Maybe drop a sentence about his particular site, but that's it.

You don't have to let them know that someone can got it. You can write the same article on different angles, just like there are 1000 thousand articles on how to get backlinks. I like the approach, sending topics to select for site owners really works well than other templates I tried on.
