Quick question about GSA SER

So I'm a GSA SER newbie, just purchased the software.

I have it running on a PC with:
i5-3330 @3.00GHZ
16 GB DDR3 RAM

I'm just running one campaign with multiple targets and multiple URLs on a premium AA list, just for comments/guestbooks.

I'm running 100 threads with 180s HTML timeout.

RAM is fine, but CPU keeps spiking to 100%

I've started at 250 threads and lowered to 200, 150 and not I'm at 100.

Is this normal? Should I leave it at 250 since I still get 100% CPU spikes?

How many cores you got? It would spike even with 50 threads. That spiking happens because of multiple things happening at once - captcha solving, form filling etc. You should focus on more links faster than threads. Sometimes optimizing it results in better submissions. More threads does not mean more links.

It's not a VPS, it's just an older desktop. The CPU has 4 cores.
You're saying I should use even fewer threads, like 50?

What I meant was sometimes no matter how many threads you use the CPU keeps spiking at 100%. So just focus on how many backlinks you are making per minute. If you are getting more with more threads go with more.

You should definitely be running GSA on a VPS.

it depends on a lot of effects, your proxy, which captcha you use and your server.
and the most important do you use for GSA verified list?

Running GSA on your desktop is really a bad idea, unless you have 1GBPS unlimited connection and a good CPU specs. BTW a normal VPS will only cost you around $10/month, so better use it. Also, how many proxies you're using, are these dedi or semi shared?

Those specs aren't going to get you far in seo backlinking. Spikes at 100% cpu are fine but do as many threads as you can where your fluctuating from 75%-95%. Your pc wont die if its topping out at 100% every 15 seconds, as long as you have proper heat control and good power supply itll run for along time without issues. You will only want be concerned if your pc randomly is shutting off due to to your cpu overheating.
