Quick n' Dirty Guide to Charon - Free, Good Proxy Checker

Charon seems to be an oldie but a goodie, testing this resource now for the first time (I'm new to this so it might take a while). I'll post my results, whether I get it to work or not.
EDIT: Charon seemed to work as advertised. CAREFULLY follow the OP's instructions and getting it started should not be an issue: default settings are probably best, update your judge and filter lists, see _rhino_'s website 'project2025' for assistance, etc.
As far as finding actual proxy IP:HOST combos, the 'search engine' feature of Charon seemed a bit weak to me. I let it run for an hour, but got no valid proxies. Better to find a proxy list beforehand it seems. One great resource that worked for nearly all IP addresses listed was the thread listing daily verified proxies under the 'Proxies' > 'Proxy Lists' sub-forum.
Note: few of the IP's I tested from that thread were indicated as U.S.-based by Charon. Keep that in mind if you need U.S. IP's.
