Quick H1 Tag Question

Lets say i am targeting 2 keywords, just for example: Shopping Mall and The Shopping Mall but just 'Shopping Mall' gets twice the search results.

So do i use 'Shopping Mall' only in my H1 as that is the more searched term or can i use h1/h2/h3 of 'The Shopping Mall' and would that count as H1 for both search terms.

Basically does H1 have to exactly match the keyword or can it include extra words to target more than 1 keyword at thesame time?

try to do a little keyword research and target the keyword with the lesser competition, though It might be close but I'd guess targeting the shopping mall would be a better bet.
 
PROTIP:
Use the keyword in a sentence to get people interested in actually reading your article.

Exact keyword or not exact keyword in your h1, If your keyword is inside the h1 tag, then its all ok.

Did you actually read my question or just an attempt to start racking up the post counts?

This is not a competition question that requires keyword competition research!! I just needed to know if keyword needs to be exact in H1, H2, H3 or if it can include additional words!!

Thanks for the second point but will wait to see if anyone else can confirm that i can use additional words in h1/h2/h3.

Yes if you include the keyword "The Shopping Mall" both Shopping Mall and The Shopping Mall would be targeted in the search engines. You would also probably find yourself ranking for the keyword The Shopping Mall if your H1 tag included "Shopping Mall The".
 
Google is pretty smart these days to figure out what the term is. I would use something like this.
<h1>Shopping Mall</h1>
text,text,text
<h2>The Shopping Mall</h2>
text,text,text
<h3>The Shopping Mall Online</h3> or something to insert variation.
text,text,text

Thanks, that is exactly what i am doing now!
 
don't forget to add the plurals in there somewhere ... google is getting a little picky these days . .somethng like "shopping in malls" .. you will normally find the 'in' dropped for the most part but comes in handy for those that search that way ..

I am using same way for my ON-Page SEO.
 
use natural language... otherwise it's easy for Google to pick up on serp manipulation attempts.
