You can dream and dream.... But your dreams won?t get any closer until you take action. Here?s how.

    1. Set a Goal. (Example: I want to build a niche blog site that generates $100/mo in ad revenue, and then I want to sell it on Flippa for $1200.)
    2. Write out a timeline of all of the milestones in this process. Start with broad bullet points like: (Niche Research, Set Up Site, Write Articles, Build Links, Promote Site, Write Flippa Sales Page). Then break each broad point down to tiny steps necessary to complete each milestone.

    Example: Niche Research>
    1. Research trending news topics to identify a good topic or trend to base the site on.
    2. Do free trials of X/Y/Z keyword research tools to gather all possible information on keywords that you research for the site.

Even things as tiny as: Install SEO Ultimate on the site and review each page to make sure it is properly linked and tagged.

Or: Create accounts on related niche blog sites and participate once per day in a discussion. build links where it is natural to do so.

You get the idea. Write out your entire timeline and hang it on the wall. Mark off each milestone until you reach your goal. You will see it every day and you will have your daily tasks RIGHT in front of you.

Force yourself to get a few things done each day. Hold off on pleasurable activities each day until you accomplish a task. If you love ice cream, don?t let yourself eat ice cream until you have 3 tasks done. If you enjoy partaking in the reefer, don?t burn one until after 3 tasks are complete. And THEN you can have the ice cream too. And order a pizza. And more ice cream.

Don?t think of your dream as something you "might accomplish someday...?. Think of your dreams as something you are accomplishing right NOW. One step at a time. They may be small steps, but you are running toward your dream and most people only walk backwards.

The reefer problem is my biggest problem. I HAVE to wake and bake since my day job is very stressful. Maybe if I keep from smoking as soons as I get home from work, and work some more on my IM empire, and THEN smoke. I'd become a millionaire. :D Thanks for this info. it has really helped me get motivated.

After reading zen19's thread, I was inspired to get my whiteboard out and in front of me from now on. This thread is along those same lines, so thanks for the reminder to kick my own ass and get in gear!

    I like it, cool post.

I like to set a "frog" each day, which is the one thing on my to-do list i must get done the next day and then i get at it straight away as soon as i wake up and have my caffeine. I recommend the book "eat that frog" by Brian Tracy if your looking for a way to increase your productivity, a good read.

Indeed. You need a SPECIFIC plan and to be focused. You need to stick to the plan, keep working through it day by day, don't get bored or unmotivated, don't waste time on forums (unless it's to generate traffic) or Facebook doing nothing. Basically you need to work on your projects really hard until you're at your end goal then work some more!

    Great advice...
A few things I might add which could help some people:
    1. Make sure the goal is realistic

Trust me I love aiming high and setting huge goals, but I always make sure that they are sound goals or I'm setting myself up for failure right away. What do I mean? Don't think you are gonna go in and make $100k/mo. with your underwater basket weaving strategy website. Make sure there's a market first, what the market is capable of doing, and then set your strategy.

    2. Do it, don't dream it.

The key is to just take action, plain and simple. I've got a mate that has been meaning to get started on his blog/internet marketing career for three years. In that time I have grown my business from $xxx a year to $xxx, xxx and my goals 7 figures next year. Meanwhile, he's still strategizing how to do it, learning how to do it, and has yet to pull the trigger. As Nike says, just do it. Yes you will fail, but you will learn a hell of a lot from those failures.

I agree. Don't set unrealistic goals. But at the same time, don't sell yourself short.

Most people are capable of far more than they think they are.

Stsy up an hour later. Work.
Wake up an hour earlier, teach yourself something new.

Make yourself better and you will accomplish more.
