Ok first I got some information from a very valuable member who can make themselves known here if they please.

At anyrate, I was trying to get to where i could change my ip. I was frustrated trying so many different things.

But then I was told to just put my modem in bridge mode, NOW THIS doesn not work for ALL computers.

    THIS PART FOR NOOBS
But first I put my dsl modem in bridge mode, then i just simply go to start menu type in cmd then when command window opens i do ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew

No what I did which is why I am posting this is it saves a lot of time.

Just open up notepad and paste this

    @echo off
    ipconfig /release
    echo
echo The IP address has been released. Waiting to renew?
    echo
    ipconfig /renew
echo The IP address has been renewed
    echo
    exit

then save file as reset.bat and save wherever you want. I save in documents and then put shortcut on desktop. I have win7 x64

Now when you click this file, it will auto open cmd line, and do ipconfig/release / renew and then close window when finish.

This saves me so much time now I just click shortcut and in about 30 seconds I have new IP. peace.

Nice info, I used to be able to just reset my IP simply by resetting the router but that stopped working for me, this will be very useful so thanks for sharing!

This doesn't change my IP. I don't see that it does anything to be honest.

It depends on your ISP, some will keep your IP address even after you release and renew it.

As said already it's all depend on your ISP.If you have DHCP enabled (which is done by ISP) which means if same IP after reset is not present then new IP is assigned to your PC.If same IP is available then it will be assigned to you automatically.

So it's just luck you know . :)

thank for this very wonderful idea, this will save more time in changing ip rather than doing it manually every time we wanted to change ip

by the way, for those ip that has been kept even if you release it already, that is a static ip given from your isp, try to use dynamic ip address once you apply for an internet connection for you to be able to change your ip anytime you want.

This will not work if you have a static address assigned by your isp which is provisioned by your broadband modem mac address.

I was only to get this done successfully using a proxy program then went and checked all the online ip checker sites and verified that the program did in fact change my IP address.

Do you have an ATT 2wire modem? You can easily use imacros to reset it, thus giving you a new ip!
