I've been wondering, what kind of domain would be better for ranking for a single keyword?

In my case, the keyword is two words strung together.

    {keyword}info.com
    {keyword}x.com

I was also thinking about e{keyword}.com, but the keyword has absolutely NOTHING to do with electronics or technology. Also, the first word of the keyword starts with an e which would be bad imo.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

EDIT: Also, {keyword}.info and {keyword}.us are available.

Meaningful suffix for the keyword is better.
Look for related searches and keywords where u can drive organic traffic without problem.

Adding "e" prefix is for SEO purpose no matter what niche u r talking about.

    If .info available, grab it.

Can anyone else confirm this? I was always under the impression that getting a domain name like {keyword}v.com or {keyword}x.com was better than getting something like {keyword}s.com since the search engine would do "spell check" on it or something.

    Doesn't matter.
I will sometimes do anothe popular keyword in the group if you can.
ie if it's weed and wee.com/net/org aren't available I will see if another high searched keyword is there like weedsideeffects.com then build links for both keywords, so hopefully you eventually rank for both keywords.

That being said, if you're actually building a quality site, you can always do keywordsite.com, then don't include site anywhere on the page, just the keyword. So if people are actually linking to you, they will just anchor keyword.

Would {keyword}list.com be preferable over {keyword}site.com or {keyword}info.com if it gets ~200 monthly searches compared to none for the others?

Thanks, this is what I was thinking also. Could you provide a link to that case study please?

On another note, Paul Prissick's "Secret SEO Recipe" ebook seems to confirm that adding a v or x to the keyword is better.

Anyone have any experience with picking domain names?

I'm currently leaning towards {keyword}x.com but I guess {keyword}list.com could be a possibility since it gets around 200 monthly exact searches.

    Sorry for double post.

I would use {keyword}v instead of x unless your product is an adult product ... I don't like .info URLS unless they are the last option

Dumb question I know, but why only adult products? Does it work less effectively or does it just make google think it has something to do with adult content? As far as I know an x looks/sounds cooler than a v lol.

Try to pick some related word... Mixing is not bad idea and have it's own advantage... Just grab what ever you think is brand able...

It might just be that I'm a bit anal about such things, but I really don't like the v or x, forget the SEO, I'm talking from a human POV. Personally I'd go for site normally, but given you already confirmed that list has exact searches (presumably locally) then go for that.

Of course if you really want to prove it, go for both, and whichever ranks first change the other to a 301 redirect :)
