Questions regarding Amazon Niche Sites

Hi guys. I am looking to create a Amazon Niche Site I just have some questions and if you don't mind answering them I will happily give you my thanks!

1) If I have a very specific keyword, is this a bad idea? E.g. lets say I have "Sony-vbx-145" as a keyword thats easy to rank for, is expensive and gets lots of traffic. That is highly targetted traffic. But it hit me; that product will eventually be superceeded by another. Do you go after these keywords anyway? Is their limited lifetime worth the conversions?

2) What is a good WP theme for this? I want to turn my traffic into sales but its gotta look nice! I'd be willing to pay for this service but the service offered in the buy/sell forum for amazon niche sites didn't have fantastic reviews.

I find the best idea is to create a product review site and use that to send your visitors to Amazon and purchase the product, and you get your affiliate commission.

Regarding your keyword:
A very specific keyword like that, will see you competing against authority sites..eg. Sony for example. i don't know what the Sony product is that you mentioned, but lets say it was a phone . Id create a site about phones( try to use a keyword rich domain name....avoid trademarks etc), then review that particular phone along with others. That way you can add and remove products and keep your website up to date.

Try to pick keyword phrases which still get a reasonable amount of traffic, but which are easier to rank for. For example, "new Sony phones", or "Sony phone reviews". you will need to do your keyword research first and find phrases to target in your site. As well, check the specific products you are going to review on Amazon...look to see their ratings and try to find products with several customer reviews.

I use and can recommend a Wordpress Theme specially designed for Amazon product reviews (see attachment).
On that same site, you should also be able to see some information about an Amazon training course which I am also doing and find it very helpful.

Follow my advice and make money- here is a golden rule:
Use only buyer keywords
like : "buy sony..." "Sony-vbx-145 store" "black/red/blue/pink Sony-vbx-145"
do you get it? your visitors should convert better if you'll implement my tip cause they already know what is Sony-vbx-145 and they want to BUY it. why shouldn't they meet your website to do this?

well I would also use keywords like "best price" for the xbox or "free shipping" or similar phrases buyers would use.

it helps to use googles keyword tool... you can identify the number of searches per month as well as the competition.

I have a question though, on Amazon niche sites for books. I've built a site but haven't spent any tiime or money on SEO. Can one make money just selling books?

Why would they come to my site instead of Amazon?

well they will visit your site because you are the best! you see,it's not what they know-it's what they think they know! therfore they should think that you already bought the book,read it and THEN wrote your preview.Give a good review that looks honest-don't just give a short summary from the back of the book's cover,write a 1-2 pages report on it. Real person who reads makes alot more impression on the buyer than just an amazon review.Hope you found this usefull

How do you guys build your niche sites? With what tools/themes?

I agree with all that has been said about keywords...while its great to use buyer keywords, and you should try to......its a balance between some buyer intent and having enough traffic to get some sales. In other words, its important to find a keyword or phrase with significant global searches, and low competition.
Its hard to make any money selling books because the purchase price and resultant commission is so low and its tough to outrank Amazon in the search engines.
I try to stick to products which sell for more than $100 for that reason.
Once Ive found my keywords, I do a search for the exact match on Google, and if any of the top 5 pages are PR of 5 or more...I give it a miss. I will tolerate a PR of (one only) in the top five. Its preferable to have the top 5 of PR 3 or less.

Should you type Amazon in the search tool aswell as your keywords?

What about buying domains with the brand name in them... Is that ever an issue for anyone?

Also I am starting a service to build these for people that don't have the skills or time.

Thinking about $167 for a 5 product review site with custom header and reviews.

Not sure if this is too low or too high.

I may advertise in the local classifieds so I will be marketing to offline crowd as well.

Any thoughts?

Another recommended keyword ?

You should always make more than one amazon sites. one sells expensive items, one sells volume. first one to make money, second one to boosts the commission rate, if you see what i mean.

How can you pick the volume Keywords?

I usually go with best sellers, but there is no way to tell volume of so.. can U PM me?

you could go with something like i do

have one site (to go with your example) camcordersworlddotcom
than another sonycamcorderworlddotcom
than another with the exact or almost exact product name, once you feel that your old site Sony-vbx-145dotcom no longer pays itself for hosting, scrap it, if not let it live as long as it pulls money in and keep creating urls with the new models, rinse and repeat...

A friend of mine had an issue with a trademark in their domain and Amazon. It was when they applied for their account. Im not sure if you have an existing account and then add a trademarked domain.
